I was wondering if people prefer watching the dvds or the videos of buffy? I've got season 1 to 6 on video and season 7 on dvd, I've always found it helps with continuity from one episode to the next on the videos when watching through them all because you can carry on from where you left off on the tape.

I'm partly asking as I'm not sure whether to get all seasons on dvd, as it would be more practical and up to date, or to stick with the videos for sentimental value as much as anything else 😀

I've got all the DVD's. Season 1,2,3,4 and 5 are american original DVD's. I'm a freak when it comes to tv shows dvd's. I collect them all...I just love those little disks and the boxes. You know, my advise is to keep the videos but buy the DVD one at a time so you don't spend all the money in one place. Videos eventually get ruined with time but DVD has a stronger resistance.

I have all the seasons, I love getting my favorite shows on DVD.
Before I could afford buying them I had season 4-6 of Buffy on VHS that I had taped from tv, but the quality was really bad. I definitely prefer DVD. Sometimes if you just want to watch a particular episode you don't have to waste time flashing forward or back.
I hope they'll release Buffy on Blu-ray soon.

Considering that I love jumping from episode to episode, scene to scene, I will never by tapes again. They seem more fragile too, and I don't the the videos have bonus features (no idea).

But if you don't want to skip scenes/episodes, you could probably get the tapes very cheap of ebay and save a lot of money, instead of buying DVDs.

I think it's easier to have Buffy on dvd because you can skip through faster if you wanted or skip an episode quicker.

The comments in favour of dvds are fair enough I think, you have added features on them and can get to particular episodes and parts of episodes much quicker. I still like the idea though of watching them all in order on tape. Maybe I will keep the tapes for nostalgic value and as was suggested, get the series one by one on dvd, rather than all in a boxset. I will probably start with season 6 as that series has a lot of individually good episodes. 🙂

I have all the Seasons on DVD but Im considering getting them all on VHS boxset now just because of the nostalgia of it when I used to have some of them on video, god knows where they are now though! And its good to watch episodes straight through and it wouldnt be that expensive so seems worth it 😀

I have them all on VHS and DVD. Any time I have rewatched the entire series I have done it on VHS, I find that if I watch on DVD (and so watch on my laptop) I am less likely to finish the eps, never mind the re-watch itself.

I reccommend the Chosen box set. It's expensive, but worth the money. It contains a handy little episode guide, and a personal letter from Joss. Plus, the DVDs contain some great special faetures, like gag reels and featurettes.
