I'm new and I'm sure this thread has been done before, but I just wanted to hear everyone's opinions on this. Now we saw in Season 3 that it was pretty close - but Buffy came out on top. I was wondering at the end of Season 7, when both were at their peak, who everyone thinks would win?

Personally I still think it'd be Buffy. While Faith may pack more into a punch - Buffy is fast, Incredibly fast and way more resourceful.

So, what do you guys think?

I'd rather see my slayers make up then fight...if you know what I mean😉

haha ok now seriously, this is a really tough one, Buffy is seen winning up against Faith countless time. I think the thing is Buffy starts out with all those friends, resources, and training, while Faith starts off really broken, no support system etc. Of course overall Buffy is going to win. But by season 8 (haven't read s9), Faith has grown way more then Buffy has, it's almost as if Buffy has been backtracking at one point (eg: s6). So I think a lot depend on the time of the fight. So I'll do it by season:

s1-s2: Well faith isn't a slayer so that's a given
s3: Buffy
s4-Buffy
s5-Probably still Buffy, but I can't remember where Faith is at at this point. If my memory is correct she's in jail in LA, please correct me if I'm wrong
s6-Faith, we're clearly shown that Buffy is broken, motivation is a big thing in winning a fight
s7-At time, I'd say Buffy, at others I'd say Faith, but in the end I feel like they are fairly even.
s8-I'll have to re-read, but I think Faith has grown so much as a character that she might have a hand on Buffy. Buffy is slowly losing her circle of friends, and Giles is now closer to Faith, that had to break down Buffy a bit. Her strength always came from her friends, Faith was always alone but had physical strength like no other, like you said she can pack a lot more punch, and now having a support system would make her stronger mentally which is what she always lacked. I also feel like Faith in s8 would emotionally render Buffy weaker just by the fact that she's getting redemption and Giles is now on her side.

There is a problem with comparing Buffy and Faith in Season 7, and that, while Buffy probably is at the top of her game at that time,Faith has spent a couple of years basically on vacation in a women's prison. By vacation, I mean that she has been away from any sort of demon fighting, and no matter how vicious an inmate might be, even if she had a lot of fights, which she most certainly would not have had, no inmate. even armed with the kind of primitive, rudimentary weapons that hey could manufacture in prison, could compare to even the weakest fledgling vampire. Faith was just plain out of practice.

The girls were far better matched by the end of Season 3 than they ever would be again, as was illustrated perfectly by the fact that, to finally beat Faith, Buffy had to resort to using a weapon to give herself the edge.

I see things a bit differently, to me half the battle is mental. Buffy has her ups and downs throughout the season, and unfortunately were not shown that much of Faith so it's a bit of a tough call. And although it is true that Faith was out of practice, look at her fight in Chosen, she bulldozers those vamps. I think in Chosen she was pretty much on par with Buffy, but that's just my personal opinion.
