Buffy Windows Themes/Icons?

Didn't know where to put this. Was wondering if anyone knew of any place to download a good buffy theme for my computer, or just icons i can put in myself. What ive googled is pretty lame stuff 🙁

I have sound clips from the show that have replaced my default sounds (such as when i have an error, spike says "Is everyone here very stoned?" and when i start up my computer it goes "grr, argh!")

I just wanted something else, but i hate downloading those full themes because sometimes they mess with things i dont want them to. I'd rather just have icons and wallpapers i can put in myself.

So any suggestions/recommendations?
 
I had found one somewhere with a theme/icons. It was pretty cool, though it probably could be better. I just remember typing "Buffy theme" into the search engine...

How do you replace the sound and icons individually? I have Window's Vista, not sure if that helps. Not very computer like here 😛
 
if you want a theme, you need to patch your Uxtheme.dll and then find a Buffy Visual Style/Msstyle, i know there are two or three out there, they're not really very good though D= i have a Vista one for XP that i edited to be Angel-y, although that's not too great either lol

for a wallpaper, try Deviantart, there's plenty on there, i found a nice The Gift one on there =]

as for icons, i have no idea, sorry

Oh ya, how do you do that for windows xp? I have been looking but coming up with only vista.
 
i have my logging on an off sounds changed to Buffy and Cordy voice clips...i changed them years ago and i don't actually remember how i did it, but i do remember that i got the voice clips from BB, so i'll look around for the link.

as for wallpapers, ypu should look in the art thread here...there are some amazing artists here. i'm sure you'll find something you like.
 
I've changed my wallpaper and icons to buffy ones, and I did have the "grr argh" as my log on sound but after a while it irritated me!

I tried looking for buffy themes a while back and I found LOADS for windows XP, but none of them worked on vista 🙁

I found a good website for wallpapers but I cant remember what it was... I'll try find it!

If memory serves me correctly -

Save your sound clips as .wav files somewhere accessible on your PC.

Open Control Panel (Start>Settings>Control Panel)

Open Sounds and Audio properties (double click the sounds and audio icon)

Click the Sounds tab

Select the event you want to associate your clip with in the Program events bit (for example, Start Windows)

Click Browse and find your sound clip where you saved it earlier.

Click OK to link that sound to the event selected.

...easy peasy 🙂

BTW - there is probably an easier way but the above is the tried-and-tested Pointy-proof method 😉

Second, to change your default sounds (this is for XP):

1: Go to Start, then Control Panel
2: Click Soundsand Audio Devices
3: If it says pick a task,click "change the sound scheme", if it just pops up a box with tabs, click the tab that says sounds.
4: After you've saved the sounds into a folder, you can highlight which default sound you want to replace (there are tons so i did basic ones, start up, shut down, alert, error, etc). Then hit browse and find the folder you saved the sound into.
5. Save, and your done!
 
As just a side question, since people are talking about Vista vs XP, how are you liking Vista? I'm about to be stuck with it (probably, depending on what's wrong with my laptop) and I'm trying to decide if I should just beg for them to load XP onto a new computer rather than Vista. I've heard awful stuff about Vista.
 
a friend of mine, who's a HUGE computer buff, recently bought a brand new comp, complete with Vista...two days later, he reinstalled XP. he hates Vista. i asked him if it was worth me paying to upgrade to Vista from XP and he told me not to waste my money. hope that gives you some insight, BB.
 
Um Sorry to double post...again but, I was wondering if anyone knew why it didn't work on the msn messenger sounds? It works on everything else but that. I changed the alerts and it still does the original alerts. Ie, mail, someone popping up to talk to me etc. When I go in to check my default noises are still changed to my buffy sounds so I am not sure why they wont change. Anyone else experience this or have any fix for it?
