Buffy without Whedon?

If they did redo it, would any of the die-hard Buffy fans watch it?

BTVS is Joss Whedon.
 
I think it could be something to see... Not too sure it'll work out...

And I think 'Buffy' started out as 'Whedon's'... But SMG made it hers... I wouldn't associate the character with anyone else... So this new 'Buffy' will have BIG shoes to fill...
 
Ok, let me pose this question........
What if Fox(somehow, someway) does indeed own the rights to BTVS and all its characters. If they were to bring back a Buffy series or movie without Whedon but including all/most/some of the characters/actors, would you watch it?

My answer would be yes I would watch it.....but if for some reason its not near the work that Whedon has done, I probably would discontinue watching it.
 
I'm saying the same as Mark... Although I'm rather scheptical about it, I'd atleast give it a try... I watched Buffy a lot, and not only because of SMG... So, I guess we'd hafta see... I'm sure some of the old cast would definately pick up the slack 😉
 
For some reason I'm really waiting for nerd4hire to weigh in on this. Also I feel like we are being market researched here...............For the record I think 85% of "Buffy fans" wouldn't like this new project. Buffy without Whedon? ::::::BOO::::::

I think I would watch it, but be extremely sceptical and I would most likely not consider it canonical.

Thank you nerd4hire, it is a relief to know that it is a bogus. Otherwise, it would be a nightmare.
 
I see that was quite an old article then. The replies to the thread was in 2003. I apologize everyone for stirring this up. I actually thought it was new news. I was take a step backward now and drift into the dark corner and not open my mouth til I know its legit. 🙂
 
You shouldn't really... it's interesting go back and revisit discussions of the past... see how opinions may have changed. Besides, there are plenty of new people. Also, it's interesting to theorise about a non-Joss incarnation of the Buffyverse, even if it's purely hypothetical.

I get that if they'd do a series again right now, I wouldn't be positive towards it.... but what if someone, not-ME, reboots the series in say 20 years... would that be okay?
