Okay, so I finally got my hands on a copy of the book of short stories edited by Charlaine Harris called "Many Bloody Returns".

And so the book is dedicated to Joss and to all the fans of his, which in the dedication they claim to be called "BuffyBuds".

Now, has anyone actually ever heard or used this term to refer to Buffy fans?

lol, no that's the first time I hear that. I have heard the term "Buffee" once or twice, but that one obviously didn't catch on either (probably because it sounds so silly... 😛 )

The only term I've heard with anything even resembling consistency is "Scooby"... and even that one isn't too popular, as on this board, e.g., we all seem to be using it only for the on-screen core charactres.

Ah well. I guess we are The Nameless Geeks. 😎

ive asked you this a few times... i like scoobies
I have NEVER heard that term being used in regards to fans, not on any board I have been to (not that there have been many).

Sounds to me like he tried to coin a phrase to get himself ingratiated properly in Buffydom.

I will, however, reserve complete judgment until Lyri posts in this thread because if there is ANYONE who will know, its her.

Also gotta say, if it is true, I don't like it and would like to pass a motion on Buffy-Boards that we NEVER refer to ourselves as that🙂

I've never heard that either. Granted, I haven't heard many buffy nicknames like that, althogh I've heard a couple for other stuff

Twilighters - Twilight Fans
Shansters - Darren Shan Fans
BBers/ Boarders - Members of Buffy Boards

Anyway, EB, I would personally like to second that motion 🙂

Never heard it before.
I usually refer to Buffy fans as either Buffy fanatics or sometimes in written language Buffies.

I've never heard it, either. I kinda like it, but I can't really say why. Maybe it has a certain "ring" to it? I'm not sure it would ever catch on here, it seems like nobody likes it, and besides that we already have the longstanding tradition of calling ourselves BBers, Buffy Fans, Buffy Geeks, and various less savory names. *oops*

Nope never heard it and i never want to again. It makes the fan sound really "cute" and Americanized.

Fans of Whedon called BuffyBuds? Never heard of. Whedonites I think I´ve come across though. As for fans of Buffy I don´t know. It´s not like it´s the same thing to like Buffy or Whedon. Just ask EB. 😉

Yes, americanized is bad. Lets go with the oz way instead. What about Buffymates? 😉 Ok, maybe mate is english, scottish (should we maybe say brittish?) or what ever. At least it isn´t american right?

yeah i mentioned whedonites to IM like xenites for xena fans (sw)
I don't really get it.. BuffyBUDS? Like, because we all like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we're all instant friends? If anyone ever introduced me, "Hey, this is Jen, my BuffyBud", I'd have to snap their neck, it sounds so crap. But, you are all my friends.. Seriously, love you all. Ahhh 🙂

Buffy BUDS? The only thing I can right now think of is the buds in the flowery kind of way, but I've never heard the term before (granted, before this summer I'd only watched one or two complete Buffy episodes, so I might not be the right person to say something about it), and I don't like it. I've never really understood the word buddy anyway, but the Dutch seem to like it, so it pops up regularly over here. Maybe that's why I dont like it. I prefer to stay a Nameless Geek, or in cases of emergency maybe Buffee (I quite like that, it sounds a bit more mature. Or would it be Buffée for women?). But what's wrong with just fans of BtVS?

Agreed. It sounds immensley like he made it up on the spot. Since when did the internet ever coin a phrase that suggests people like each other?

Also gotta say, if it is true, I don't like it and would like to pass a motion on Buffy-Boards that we NEVER refer to ourselves as that🙂

All in favour?

"AYE!!!"

Motion carried.

Aw, thanks for the flattery, Al. 😀

And, no, I have never, in all my years as a Buffy fan, both online and off, I have never referred to myself as a Buffybud, nor have I heard anyone else be referred to as such.

I hereby declare that this phrase must never be used on BB, lol.

Wow. I'm glad we never have to refer to ourselves in that way. It sounds too corny. I'm fine with just saying I'm a Buffy fan.
