In regards to the advancements made to our society, no civilization will ever be deemed perfect. There will always be some socio-economic barrier, corrupt politician/rep. or even something as simple as a thief.

But the things that make humans unique or even superior is a conscience. One of my favorite quotes of the moment is "A conscience does not prevent sin. It only prevents you from enjoying it." (Author Unknown).

We as humans have the ability to bad. But for the most part of humanity, we either regret these things or are haunted by our memories.

Vampires and demons are compared to humans because they don't have a conscience. They act out in a negative way and have no doubts out it, either because of their primal nature or their lack of conscience.

Honestly, I think in the Buffyverse that humanity is saw as something superior. Because I mean, look at Angel S5 & Buffy S7, we are told that humanity drove away the Old Ones. This shows that theres something extremely strong about human nature. Whether it be rationalization, love, or caring... vampires and most demons simply do not have it.

So... Slayer, The, what you're saying is that humans are different, and subject to different rules than demons or vampires. Demons can be viewed as fair game because they don't have a soul, and (at least according to the basic rules of the Buffyverse) can be considered something to be disposed of. A Human is automatically considered superior because they have the capacity to do good. Whether or not they do so is a personal choice, but unlike a demon they aren't necessarily going to do bad things every second of their lives. There's always that possibility that in the future, they might do something good.

Which brings us back, and in about a month you're going to be even sicker of hearing me talking about her, to Faith. By trying to kill her, Buffy is judging her, saying that Faith is incapable of doing enough good in future to outweigh her bad karma. If Faith were a demon, we'd know that was true, but she's not. She has a conscience, even if she tries to suppress it and she is capable of doing good. Maybe not enough good to Yin out the Yang, but she can try if she so desires, automatically giving her a right to life that demons don't have. Buffy is not Buffy the Vampire Killer. She's the Vampire Slayer, and everybody is really, really careful not to make that faux pas. She slays demons because that is her calling. Killing people is well beyond her remit. If it's something that's immediately unavoidable, then fine, survival instincts are tough to beat.

Dictionary.com defines a murderer as:
"One guilty of murder; a person who, in possession of his reason, unlawfully kills a human being with premeditated malice."

In the case of Faith I have to say I like the character very much but right now I'm just arguing the point for the sake of it 😀

Buffy had to kill Faith at that point to save Angel and to have a strong warrior by her side in the final battle against the mayor. You may argue that Buffy resisted the killing of Ben in The Gift, but that was only because she didn't have to...she believed at that point that she had prevented Glory from using the key at the precise time to open the portals, she didn't have a clue about Doc.
