Buffy's birthday parties

Since season 2, we got to see Buffy's birthday parties. The last time she and her friends celebrated Buffy's birthday was in season 6, and Spike suggested she wouldn't celebrate her birthdays anymore, because bad things always happen when she does.
And in season 7, she did not celebrate her birthday.

So my question is, did she actually listen to Spike? Or was it JUST because of the situation they had during that season? I mean, there are always dangers, not only around her birthday. Every year she's busy fighting evil. How come she doesn't have time for it this year? Was it more busy than the usual, that bad that she couldn't have a little birthday party? Was do you think was the reason for her not celebrating her birthday in season 7?

I think they celebrated her birthday every two years, just as Halloween.

I think she had birthday parties only in S2, S4 and S6.

No, they had a party in season 5 too. That's where Dawn cuts herself.

And although maybe not a party in season 3, there was a birthday episode: Helpless.

Lol, I never thought of that but I guess I'd like to think that she listened to Spike and just skipped the celebration 🙂 Her b-day bashes never goes too well after all 😉

I think it was the situation of the season. Although it'd be super funny if she listened to Spike.

Maybe behind the scenes, (sometime right after "The Killer in Me,) Spike was like "Listen, pet. Let's not tempt the fates and invite even more trouble, 'ay? We've got about all we can handle right now. Tell you what, after we save the world from The First, I can take you someplace nice."

And Buffy would say something snarky like, "What, a fancy night in the cemetery with your flask?" But then she'd smile softly, indicating that she appreciated the sentiment.
