Buffy's body

Yeah sick title for thread i know but, i have always wondered this as i grew up and never found out, but the body they use in the beginging of season 6 in the grave was it a real body??? Also what do you think They done with Buffys grave?? Like the Chaeacters in the show?? Could they of got rid of it? or what?? lol xx <3 Holly

The "Decaying Buffy" body was a prop I believe because I think there was a whole thing about it being sold on ebay a while ago. They had the decaying dummy in the coffin, filmed it, then filmed Sarah in the coffin then melded it together to create the regeneration shot. That's my educated guess anyway. 🙂

Of course it was a real body. They dug up a dead girl, who died relatively young, and filmed her. After that they threw the remains in a box, and put a live actor in the same coffin and filmed it too.

The thing that I can't fathom is how swiftly the body decomposed in just the 3 (?) months after her death. Hmm... You'd think with all the formaldehyde they use along with other icky junk that Buff would look pretty well, um, pretty. Ya know?

No. I do not think that at all. There was no formaldehyde used as her death was kept secret. So, unless Giles administered it himself, as they could not just walk into a funeral home and have them embalm a body, there was no formaldehyde involved.

Hmph. Didn't think of that. Thanks. 😀 I guess I'm too rooted in the normal customs of this world of ours to assume that Giles did all the funeral arrangements--literally by hand--himself. There are professionals to do that for us. Usually after a death there are inquiries, as by, frex, Police, Family Services, Dawn's school, etc. I don't think the writers thought through that all that much before the big move to the UPN network.

When I heard about this, I actually wanted to get it. I was gonna hang it up in my room, or just outside so no-one would disturb me when I'm busy doing my homework or studying cause they'd probably be too grossed out by it to come near/in my room. And to show off to my mates, who have no Buffy props what-so-ever. And neither do I, cause I never got it.🙁
