Introduction.

After she had killed Angel, knowing that many of those she thought of in Sunnydale would not see her as a friend, Buffy left to try and start a new life but even there she was recognized. Working in a café she met a girl called Chanterelle who she had saved from the vampires.

Buffy’s Chosen Friend.

Finding herself alone after Chanterelle had gone, Buffy worked a week to get some money before leaving the café. She found herself on a coach back to Sunnydale. Getting off the coach on the outskirts of the town Buffy wandered to where the people she knew might be. Seeing them together Buffy could not imagine what she could say to them. When she saw her mother all Buffy could think off was her mothers last words, telling her not to think about coming back.
Buffy turned away and went to the bus station, what would Giles think of her, what would the watchers council do? Buffy could not think of any answers that would be acceptable to them.

She wondered where she should go next and what she would do when she got there. After she had been at the bus depot for 47 minutes a coach drew up to the stop in front of her.
“So this is the coach to get, to where I am going to live next,” said Buffy
Feeling someone prodding her Buffy looked up to see who it was.
“Yes,” said Buffy.

“You said earlier that this is where you were going, so wake up.”
Buffy looked out of the window to the name of the bus depot. Getting off the coach she went to be sat on a bench seat, only to be sat there for another twenty minutes.
Then it occurred to her about the person who had woken her on the coach, she knew she had not spoken to anyone let alone say where she was going. Buffy tried to think who the person was who had spoken to her but try as hard as she could she was unable to put a name to the face.
“The name is Wulf.”

Startled by the sound of a person Buffy looked to where she had heard the voice.
“My full name is Wulf Brander,” he looked at her.
“Where do you know me from and how did you know where it is that I am going?” asked Buffy. Wulf grinned,
“Do you think we would leave you be?”
Trying to comprehend what Wulf had just said to her,

“You may have said your name but what are you and how do you know me?” asked Buffy.
“You are a chosen one, did you think we would allow you to vanish from our range of knowledge, there are those who you befriended who are right for you, many are wrong though so we will bring a copy of them into your life a life that will be similar to the way it was headed,” said Wulf.
“For starters what kind of name is Wulf?”
Buffy saw his mouth develop a smile and in his eyes Buffy saw that smile.

“I was an Anglo Saxon sorcerer, on earth I helped a man gain the knowledge he needed and the confidence to find his path in life. So now I am here now, for you,” said Wulf.
“Are you are from the watchers council to help me get the knowledge and the confidence I need to help me continue in life?” asked Buffy.
“No, I am not from the watchers council, for a start all of them are human, only a part of you is a human though part of you is not. The part of you is a chosen one, that part that is to battle those from hell. As for me I was once a human though I was chosen to be a guide for a Chosen One. Here and now I have been chosen to be a guide for you, it will be helpful if we could become friends though I should add that we remain a secret to all others,” said Wulf.

“You said a copy of one that was a friend in Sunnydale will be sent to be here, to be a friend to me now, who is the person going to be?” asked Buffy.
Wulf opened a magazine,
“This is the house where you and your new friend will live,” he said.
Wulf spread his arms wide,
“We are now in your new home.”

Buffy realised that the words he spoke were true, she looked about at the room.
“Okay I like this yet I would like to know more about who else will be here?” asked Buffy.
Buffy turned to the front door as soon as she heard someone knock on it. Wulf stood at the doorway and held the door open, Willow entered the room.
“Thank you Wulf,” smiled Buffy turning to face him though she saw no one where he should have been.
Buffy waved Willow toward her and opened her arms to welcome her.

Buffy’s Chosen Friend 2

Finding their home in the bowels of the pre Christian religious church on the bound of Sunnydale Willow and Buffy investigated the carvings on the walls set within the bowels of the church, down in the sacred catacomb. Willow searched the meanings of the carvings amongst the poorly hidden written words of the many books and parchments.

Buffy was content to watch Willow inspect each one of the carvings that was carved into the stone. Buffy felt little until one marking that made her have belief in the future of the betterment of mankind be installed upon her. Seeing a carving that meant more to her than her first words from Giles. Tears compounded in her eyes as the strain of life was revalued.

With Wulf to guide her Buffy took to guiding the handing over of the rubbings to Willow. That was until Wulf held onto a rubbing that Buffy had made of a carving Buffy had been about to hand to Willow. “This is one of the many that was from the beginning. He asked Buffy where she had taken the rubbing, Buffy pointed to where it was.

He pointed at a carving, “This is it,” Wulf smiled at the carving, “This one tells the tale of what would be, despite all the claims of the First this gives rise to the facts the slayers armies could win. This tells of how the Scythe should be held and by who.” Willow felt a rise in the essence permeated from Buffy, Willow allowed a smile to be given to Wulf.

“Please tell Buffy all you know about the Scythe, we have really to understand all that is/ was or will be about that?” asked Willow. “Then listen to me, I was given that by one of the Oracles who had been given it from those of the powers. They had me deliver it to a place that had become known as a place where the slayers would seek.”

Wulf became fixated on Willow. “I heard one of the slayers best friends had given her the hope that all slayers would be proud of, that all slayers would be happy to face all manners of death as they were aware that each one of them had the power to defeat any who rose from Hell, Such was the knowledge of the slayer,” said Wulf.

Buffy knew she had found one of those who had given the Scythe to the Guardians, for them to hide it amongst the elements of the world that would become the rocks that would cause only forged tools be cut the stones that the First should surely encounter before the slayers would. Wulf grinned to Buffy and told her what the First never knew.”

“And now you can start to learn of it for there is words of hope the First never found for it refuses to accept that it might lose the conflict,” stated the Son of the Devil. At that moment, Willow understood those of the slayer were never likely to lose the conflict despite all the ramblings and mutterings of the bravery the numbers of the First made.

“It was in the years that I began to follow the religion.” “Do you mean the religion of the Old Ones?” asked the youngsters of the old ones. Wulf grinned for he knew that he was one of the first Anglo-Saxon warriors to have created the Scythe. Having handed it to the Guardians so they could prepare for the day when they would be given it.

Wulf took it upon himself to pass on to the other sorcerers all that the First had lost out on. That they had lost out on it primarily due to them not believing in the possibility they might loose. The Watchers Council had not had the foresight to send all the potential slayers to be in the protection of the slayer.

The Watchers Council had a massive forgiving about who the current slayers was. The last they had heard was that Faith became after Buffy had died and that after Faith had passed onto the side of evil Kendra had been awakened. As Kendra had been taken so quickly one of the Guardians had suggested that Buffy be re-awakened.

That is what was and is still as what was, given the battles against the First the PTB willed Buffy to remain as the slayer. Even though time had become confused Buffy was allowed to return to Sunnydale High though her watcher would be Wulf the teacher for religious education. That gave cause for concerns to Wulf, having to learn of other religions.

Buffy’s Chosen Friend 3

Wandering along the pathways through the towns park Willow and Buffy found an unoccupied bench seat that allowed them to sit and look over the large duck pond. “We can be here and talk while we watch the swans glide over the water’s surface,” said Willow as she grinned to Buffy, “We need to organize things to be better than they are,” said Willow.

Thinking about it, Buffy knew Willow was right. “I have a belief that the new Religious Teacher is a friend though I have no idea what sort of friend he is,” said Willow. Buffy knew her back was against the wall. She had to understand more about the Religious Education teacher. “There is something about him you’d best be careful of, I think he has the hots for you,” said Buffy.

Willow attempted to smile to Buffy, “at least that it is different to what he sees in you,” said Willow. Buffy stayed behind as Willow went into the school. Buffy could see that she was on her own, though without seeing her she felt as though there was another person with her. Buffy decided she needed to know more about who Wulf was.

Secretly she wandered into the room where the teachers would congregate when there were no classes for them. Buffy looked at Wulf’s reference books. Not knowing what to expect she soon saw a disquieting collection of book titles. There were no tales of what it was though most of the books said something about how the animals would move and how.

Intrigued by the references about animal movements Buffy read more with greater interest. She had no idea how long she had been reading though she knew it was about Shamanism and the general beliefs of Paganism, her intent was stunned when she noted that Willow and Wulf were halfway through a cup of coffee each, Buffy apologized to Wulf.

“That is alright Buffy, it will do no harm to understand how knowledge of an animals behavior can stunt your ability to be a slayer. If anything knowing how a specific animal might behave will only help you should you move among the forests or the fields,” said Willow. “What I would recommend you take part in are the fires I control,” said Wulf.

Willow led Buffy to a car in the teachers parking area, not knowing whose car it was Buffy looked about to see who was walking towards it though she was quite impresses as she saw Wulf get closer to them. He invited them to get on the back seat, Willow opened the door for Buffy. “So what can I expect to see out there?” asked Buffy.

Willow shrugged her shoulders, “Why do you think I would know what we will find out there?” asked Willow. Buffy expected that Willow would know they were going to see though she was surprised to learn that her friend had never witnessed Wulf on a rare night vigil, “I hoped that you would know what Wulf was going to do,” said Buffy.

She stood back from him and waited to see what he was doing, she and Willow watched in awe as he set the smaller sticks under the masses of dried moss, his fingers seemed to invite the feint shadowy wafts of smoke to rise up from the emptiness to fill the void that covered the fire. A splatter of flames created the heat that promoted the smoke to rise.

As Wulfs hands invited the wafts of smoke spread over the sides of where the fire pit was, yet his hands appeared to push the flames back into the ground. At which point all of the flames began to change from deep red and orange to a whiter shade of pale before being corrupted to be many shades of blue. “I know that colour of flame, he is sending a message,” said Willow.

Both Willow and Buffy looked to where the smoke was going, “As if I would be able to see who received the message and even if I did, I doubt that I would know who she is,” said Willow. “You should remember her Willow, though you never saw her you did speak to her. It was Buffy who saw her, so when she gets here you can tell Willow,” said Wulf.

The girls looked to each other as though each of them was waiting for an explanation of who was coming. Of who, Wulf knew that each of them knew. “Who could Wulf have known from such a long time ago,” asked Willow. “Well, he did not say it was from a long time ago he only said it was from someone we both knew,

I have no idea who he could know who we both knew?” asked Buffy. “If we accept that he knew of her many decades, centuries or even millennia before we did, that brings in someone who knew of us yet did not actually know either of us,” said Willow. Wulf allowed himself to grin.
“I would suggest the one who it could be was the Guardian who buried the Scythe,” said Buffy.

Wulf began to nod to them as the Guardian emerged from the smoke above the fire.
