Buffy's Cookie Dough Speech

But then there was his little speech about cookie dough and waiting in The Girl In Question. He makes it sound like he's just waiting around for her to be ready to be with him. That has nothing to do with her being with Spike at the time. All I'm getting from the way Angel speaks is that he's waiting around patiently for Buffy to sort herself out and come find him. When in fact it's the other way round if anything. Angel at the very minimum has to sort out the curse before anything can ever happen with him and Buffy. Especially considering the curse isn't specific to sex. He could be with Buffy and have a perfect moment doing whatever and it would all go wrong again.

I think the simple answer is Angel, as much as I love him, isn't perfect. He can be petty, he can get jealous, he can be a bit vain and he can do things from time to time without thinking them all the way through. In essence you're right about the hindrances still in play when he returns in S7. I just find, as a huge Angel fan, that I can virtually always understand his perspective. W&H told him there was a major Apocalypse brewing in Sunnydale, he knew that Buffy was involved with Spike which obviously ticked him off (just as he was ticked off about Riley). It's a normal, human emotion to feel jealousy. We all do, even more so when it involves someone we're in love with. Spike does the same thing when he's got a drawing of Angel's head on the punching bag later that episode. They both get petty when it comes to Buffy.

This makes a lot of sense. Maybe keeping his hopes up as well for a future with Buffy if does get his problems sorted out
