Everytime I watch the last episode of Season One I always think that the dress isn't really that great. I mean, it's pretty simple and pretty boring and sounds overpriced from the way Buffy reacts when she sees that her mum has bought it.

Did anyone else think it was kinda... crap?

i actually kinda liked it...but maybe that was just me.
it was simple and beautiful at the same time, and totally something i would have worn, if we had something like Prom or whatever it was.

Haha this thread made me Laugh pretty loud. I totally agree with you, I didnt like the dress. I didnt really like what Buffy wore in season 1 much tho.

I'm with Lyri. I actually liked it. It was simple but beautiful at same time. I'm really not much for dresses that are real fancy or frilly.

Simple was the point. I hate dresses that are too "involved". Simple is good. It wasnt bland and I assume it was expensive because of the material. Thats always what makes things expensive.

And red could have made it too sexy. She was a 16 year old girl. They werent going for sexy.

A 16 year old girl would definitely go for sexy. They're at the age. I think, I'm not sure, I've never been a 16 year old girl.

I have been a 16-year-old girl and you're right. :-)
i think it's a good thing it wasn't red or slinky and black...'cause that was the point!
the dress was suppsed to show that Buffy was a pure, innocent girl, who was suppsed to sacrifice herself to save the world. Sacrifices always wore white!

if this had taken place in any season other than the first, then there would have been no way Buffy could have worn a pure whilte dress and pulled it off...no pun intended, for all you dirty minds out there! Buffy in S2 onwards wasn't the same girl she was in S1. yes, she was the Slayer and was forced to grow up before her time, but the thing with The Master really made her grow up a lot more, especially during the break between S1 and S2.

Very well said, Lyri!
All dresses look the same to me 😛... But I think that was okay. Red would have been out of place and black... well, black would have been sexy, but Buffy was still sweet and innocent back then.

Would've been better if it was a black PVC minidress with lots of leather buckles and stuff on and she had fishnet tights and suspenders.

huh? what the hell? i really hope this was some kinda joke.
how the hell could a 16 year old girl get away with wearing something like that?

Wow, you said hell...twice in one post, you bad girl.
LOL 16 year old girls get away with that all the time... Heck even in school they get away with it(alright some schools the skirt has to touch the tip of your middle finger but that can sometimes mean really short skirts)... and god knows the skirts in Buffy were tiny... so she could have gotten away with it...

But that would make her trashy and thats just not what they were going for.

I'm really into the old fashioned/classy look, so I actually really like the dress. I, personally, would have gone for something a little more edgy, but I thought it was pretty. Especially since Buffy thought she was going to die and all. It seemed somewhat appropriate for her to face her fate in that dress. It was almost wedding/funeral like or something. Strange how those two meet in the middle, sometimes...

When I first saw the dress, I was like "WOW! That is.... an amazing dress!!" And now I am like, "MAN! That dress.... is.... kind of ugly!'

I loved it at first but now I hate it! It is too plain! It needs more on it.
