I've alwayss wondered this, but Buffy's house,
I know it was filmed at in season one and they used it
to film out side/ in the garden of it in seasons after that. But Did the show own that house? Or did someone own it and they payed to film there? And does anyone know what happend to the house after Buffy ended? Did the studio keep it or do people just live there?
Can anyone help? Becuase i've always wondered and havnt been able to find out.

Merry Christmas by the way xxx

If I'm remembering Special Features/Commentary right, the house was owned by someone who gave the show permission to film in and around it. The vast majority of the interior was filmed on a soundstage, but almost all of the exteriors were done at that house. I believe that the house was in Torrance, and they say they were banned from filming in Torrance after the high school explosion, but the neighborhood looks exactly the same, so I'm not 100% sure of that.

The house was owned by people and still is (I used to live two streets away....well I still do; we still have our house in Torrance we're just not currently there haha) but you often see Buffy tourists posing on the street outside it and I can't help wondering what the owners think when they see this haha. But yes it didn't belong to the studio, like in a lot shows where they do on-location they pay the owners of the house to basically trash it with cameras and wires etc.

I think the owners of the house should offer them lemonade, as per Buffy's mix as in sugar free. tee hee

Did you see the actors there? What's the closest you got?
Blondie Bear agrees: You . . . live . . . near Buffy?! *drools*

Yeah we got a house on Amapola Avenue a few years back...we're also like a block away from Sunnydale High haha. But right now we're living in our NYC apartment for work-related reasons...so no Buffy tourist spots for me 🙁

Absolutely not! ::kicks photobox under bed quickly::

LMAO... I had to google it, i HAD to! There's several pictures of people posing in front of Buffy's house on Google Images: I like this one. He looks as excited as I know I'd be

OMG, these kids pictures are even better, they went to the house and the highschool... *is jealous*

I wanna geek it up like those people did!
Oh my god I love those photos! Haha. Those guys were really going for it. It's kinda the whole reason why I love this fandom...every last one of us is a total geek of the show but because it's such a cool fandom no matter how insane we get....we're still the coolest geeks at the con.

I will have to find my photo there that I never had taken.......::blush::

Show us!
The exterior of that house shows up in commercials and things every once in awhile, too, so I think the owners figured out a great way to make a few extra bucks out of living so close to Hollywood. Most recently, I noticed that "Buffy's" house was the exterior for a cell phone commercial.

If I owned a house, I'd probably make a few extra bucks that way, too. You see a lot of neighborhood shots from Pasadena, too. Not from Buffy, but still. A lot of the Transformers movie was set in Pasadena. My friends and I were all like, 'Hey! That school's right down the street!" and "You can't from Allen to Downtown that fast!" Also, *everyone* shoots at the Huntington (which is at the end of my street). I even used to live in the Back to the Future neighborhood (in Whittier). It's funny. When you live in the LA area, the stuff in movies and TV shows starts to look incredibly familiar. What's even weirder is that I still geek out about it and act like it's cool when I recognize a setting in a movie or a TV show.

They picked the right house. I'm saying this because it looks Joyce (Summers)-designed. It looks like Joyce's taste.

Definately. I can just imagine her falling in love with it immediately. Which makes the whole thing in Season 5-6 when they are struggling for money and repairing tables and such really sad!

I don't blame you! I think I was in a state of shock after we left that one- I didn't speak for an hour!
It's a Craftsman house (As I was informed by our realtor. She said it a million times before we put an offer in for one. She either knew it was a great sales pitch...or she reaaaaaaaaally liked the word). They are beautiful houses and the interiors are usually stunning (I say usually as when hubby and I were house hunting several years back one or two had been destroyed by the awful tastes of the previous owners. One had a purple and yellow carpet installed. PURPLE AND YELLOW) and rather artistic looking. A lot of wood design is involved which, when it's the original, is always amazing to explore (my Mom did an interior design course once and it rubbed off on me, okay? Haha). Basically in Torrance it's split between very Spanish design (think Giles' apartment), Craftsman and a few moderns.....and I am not a very big fan of modern housing. :: pulls blergh face::

So you can totally understand, as y'all are saying, why the show chose that house to be the Summerses...es..es.

I got to the end of your post and realised I hadn't taken anything in after "purple and yellow carpet"! XD

I like Craftsman style houses, too. I almost rented one, but my roomie's bedroom would have been too small. :-(

Craftsman houses are all over out here, but I agree that "Buffy's" house really does seem to suit Joyce's tastes and sensibilities. The location scout did a good job.

I know some of the rooms can be didgy! But luckily we had no roomie to worry about. :)
I think I found the house on Google Earth, but I don't get a clear view of it and the same with the school. Why does a stupid school bus have to park right infront of it block the view for me? 🙁
