I wouldn't say she's 'hot', but I could definitely see her as SMG's real mother. She looks like her more than Sarah's real mother actually.
I've always thought they were perfectly casted as mother and daughter.

I agree that it's very good casting. The similarities are definitely noticeable. Kristine Sutherland seemed to have an ageless beauty about her. She looked good in every season she was in.
