Buffy's popularity coming back up

Ok so within the last year BTVS has come back on net work telivision. That was exciteing for me. But I was at the local street fair in small town Bluffton, Indiana last night.....and there one of the prizes for a game....A BUFFY T-SHIRT!!!! I have not sean one for sale (other then online) in like three years! So my boyfrined is going up tonight before he goes to work to win me the shirt!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!! All my old Buffy close got stolen over a year ago so I have no way of showing my fandom out in public. But after tonight I will again!!!

Good luck to your boyfriend then. Seeing Buffy things for sale or as prizes here is extremly uncommon and has as long as I can remember.

I, for one, am SUPER excited to see new people getting into the show because of the reruns on TV. Thanks to LOGO, a lot more people are falling in love with the show. Maybe the popularity will inspire some new games, books, or even possibly a movie with the REAL cast. 😉

HE WONE ME THE SHIRT!!!! I got it now! And I am wearing it. The game cost 2 dollars a time and he spent $30 doing it before he won me the shirt. But he never gave up. Im so proud of my wonderfull man....I got him turned onto BTVS right after we got together. He had never seen it before but now he loves it.

I will post pics of the shirt on this thread here soon. I just have find my cable and upload them

Yeah I agree it is becoming more popular lately it seems...I think because the comic has been doing so well. I asked the guy at the comic book place I go to to get Buffy and Angel, and he said that Buffy is one of their number one sellers. I talk about it at work so much too, that I finally got two people to watch both Buffy and Angel (and they are starting Firefly and Dollhouse too), and they told me they are completely hooked, bought the DVDs and are even thinking about getting into the novels and comics. Now whenever I see them all we do is talk about Buffy and Angel it's soooo much fun, because I never really had anyone to talk to about the shows besides being on forums.

I was buying a game today and the guy at the counter was buying every Buffy and Angel box set he could get. An early Xmas present for his girlfriend. The girl behind the counter said there's been a lot of people ordering them recently!? Buffy must be getting more popular, especially if it's happening in my back ward town where torch wielding villagers still frequent.

Man, I wish I had friends like that! The only fans I know are 2 cousins of mine, and they don't live close.

Are these true novels, or graphic novels? Are they considered canon? It's interesting, while searching out the season 8 comics, one of the used bookstores in town had a ton of the older Buffy comics. A whole, very visible shelf of them. Less of season 8 comics though, and all marked up. 🙁 Anyway, I kind of think Twilight & Tru Blood becoming popular is also shedding more light on Buffy. So, uh, maybe that's a good thing? 😉
 
They are true novels, and they are not canon...I basically consider them to be AU stories, while others just consider them glorified fanfic. They are a lot of fun to read though...there is a thread started here with people's favorite Buffy/Angel novels listed. If you are interested I suggest taking a look at that thread!!
 
Here in the Netherlands Buffy isn't regaining popularity from the looks of it. There were reruns earlier that year, but they stopped after season 3 🙁 Plus, even when they were on, it was around midnight, so, uhm, yeah....

And last time I went to the Free Record Shop (not sure if that's known outside Benelux? Well, it's a store that sells DVDs, video games, CDs...stuff like that) they even had Buffy and Angel DVDs on sale, which usually is only the stuff that has been in the store for ages and just doesn't sell...


On a more brighter note, I had to be mentor for this new Master student at my faculty, and she likes Buffy and wants to rewatch it with me...so that's gotta mean there's at least people out here that still want to see the show, that's good.


And congrats on winning that T-Shirt, that's awesome.
 
Oops, I was wrong- Angel is on TNT, 5 and 6 am CST (& some Spanish-language channel, at least on my cable programming).
 
Another reason I think the show is coming back in popularity is the fact that Netflix has all the seasons available for instant viewing. That makes it highly convenient to watch either through a computer or game systems like the XBox 360 or Wii.

Im excited to hear that the books are comeing back. Several of mine got stolen and I would like to replace them. Pluse I would like to get the one's I didn't have the chance to get before. I still have 12 of the books but that is it....Not much for me considering how much I read
 
I went to a dvd store a couple of months ago and to my great surprise, there were those Buffy Books I have heard of and never seen!!! Also, the comics! Here in Greece Buffy was not particularly popular and I think only the 1st season was shown on tv, so seeing those books and comics made my day!

Also, a guy from Uni asked me to give him the Buffy dvd's cause he heard the series might be good! There are only two people I know(in my circle of people) that know Buffy!!!

Nice to see the popularity going up in other countries to.....If you dont have frineds that know Buffy then introduce them to the amazeing show!

This is how I started watching it again. Don't have the money at this point in time for the dvd's. So streaming is it for me. Got me hooked good and proper. 😀
