Buffy's subliminal feelings for Xander?

Does anyone think that Buffy had subliminal sexual feelings for Xander which is why she opted to hook up with Parker?

They were pretty similar visually... never noticed that before.

Buffy definitely has "Daddy" issues. Comes out more in the comics than the show. Giles was definitely her father figure. I think family was important to Buffy, Xander was her brother.

I don't think they were subliminal. Xander was attractive. Just because they were "just friends" (whatever that is supposed to mean) doesn't mean they didn't find each other attractive or were physically attracted to each other.

You can admire the merch and even want a taste and just decide not to go there, and it doesn't have to be subconscious. Sometimes it's very conscious.

I think the writers/casters threw us Parker visually for people who shipped Xuffy so they could get a fix.

and so the writers/casters who shipped Bander could get a fix.

Also because the Parker actor had super intense eyes and he kind of mesmerized Buffy and stuff.

I remember in the I Was Made to Love You commentary, Jane talked about giving the Buffy/Xander shippers some hope in parts of the show. Perhaps that's why Joss went there in S8: Buffy having feelings for Xander, only it's too late because Xander is in love with her sister now.

Same here. And if they the same then Xander would have used Buffy just like Parker did .
But We all know that Xander doesn't have game 😀

Apparently SMG & NB petitioned the writers for Buffy & Xander to get together in either S6 or S7 (I can't remember which), but they vetoed it in favour of Spuffy, so Bander could have been a thing had the actors got their way....

Their relationship in S7 is actually kinda sweet, with Xander being a 'father-figure' for Dawn, taking her to school etc. But Xander got less attractive as the seasons progressed (I think that was a conscious effort on the creators to make NB less of a hottie) and so I never saw anything other than friendship between Buffy & Xander.

I never saw a similarity with Parker. They both have brown hair and curtains, but then so did 50% of guys in the late 90s..... 😀

l for one am glad they didn't get together. I always saw Xander as more as a brother to Buffy& them going out would have just destroyed that.
