A while back, an old member of the boards called DeadlyDuo used to run ship tournaments. As they are a lot of fun I have decided to run a tournament of my own in the same style. I have included DeadlyDuo's rules below:

There will be 3 rounds.

For Round 1, everyone nominates 12 ships. They can be canon or non-canon, HOWEVER please no comic characters (on account of the fact that not everybody has read the comics and it would be unfair to ask people to vote on a ship when they have no idea who one half is). The top 12 ships will go through to Round 2.

For Round 2, you rank the 12 ships that made it through from Round 1. The top 6 ships will make it through to Round 3.

For Round 3, you rank the final 6 ships and the winner will be announced at the end of the round.

When listing your nomination, please write it as Character/Character rather than a ship name because some ships can have multiple names and it gets confusing and is unfair if the same ship takes two spots under different names.

Ships must be ranked from 1-12. Number 1 gets 12 points, Number 12 gets 1 point. Please list 12 ships (and write the points you're assigning to that ship) eg:

1. Character/Character (12 points)
2. Character/Character (11 points)
etc

A ship can't take up multiple spots, it must be 12 individual ships nominated per person.

You can only vote ONCE PER ROUND.

In joint tenth we have Angel/Cordelia and Spike/Angel. Finally we have Buffy/Spike and Spike/Angel rounding out the top twelve. This could all change though so keep on voting!

When do you guys think we should begin round 2? Not a lot of people have voted yet but I'm not sure how many more votes I should expect and I don't want to leave those who have already participated waiting.

We haven't had any responses for a while now so I am going to start round two. However, we have two couples in joint twelfth so we need to have a vote to see which couple goes through. The two couples are Buffy/Spike and Spike/Angel

My personal vote goes to Spike/Angel
 
Would anybody else like to vote as it's currently a tie and we can't move on without one more vote. Would everyone prefer for Buffy/Spike to go forwards or Angel/Spike?

Just so we all know, I made a mistake on this update as it is Willow/Tara in joint tenth with Angel/Cordelia

It isn't too late to vote. You (and anyone else who wishes to vote) has until the end of the day. Round two will start tomorrow.
I'll throw in a vote for Gunn/Anne. It's one of the very few that truly appealed to me. Though not to the point I seek out fanfic and fanart of it (but now I'm suddenly curious).

I'm rather fond of Giles/Jenny, but probably because it wasn't allowed to get too far.

I liked a couple of others, but purely for their storytelling aspects, so I don't know if I should include them. It's not like I thought they were perfect together (similar enough to be compatible, different enough to make each other interesting and keeping it from becoming "best friends" at best is what I'd consider "perfect together") or I projected myself into one of the characters or otherwise took it too seriously besides enjoying it play out as opposed to tolerating it for the sake of the show that interested me more. That is, enjoying the story isn't the same as shipping them (in my book).

You can give Gunn/Anne 12 points and Giles/Jenny 11 points but you have to assign points to another ten couples. You can look at earlier posts in this thread for examples.

I'll play 1 round. I'm going to leave the Buffy/Clem out as it's more of a joke ship for me (but when I hear things like how the canon ships were "brave" I think Cluffy would be genuinely daring, and I could actually see it--the relationship, not the show--working if it somehow came to be by natural ways, but I don't think they have enough in common, and I think looks are very important to Buffy--but a well written fanfic on it could change my mind).
