Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 1 make each season of the other series better (Pangs/I Will Remember You, The Yoko Factor, Faith crossovers) and Buffy season 5 and Angel season 2 overlap very nicely as well-- especially at the end of the season and obviously with Fool for Love/Darla.
My favorite though is Buffy Season 7/Angel Season 4. I don't hate Season 7 but I love Season 4 (great episodes and serialization) so I think it elevates Season 7 to higher greatness and the episodes parallel nicely. Lessons-Spin the Bottle are kind of monster of the week/ "finding yourself" type episodes. Conversations with Dead People-Dirty Girls (like the big middle chunk) starts a really intense, high stakes scary war against pure evil run and then the end with Shiny Happy People- Chosen continues the intensity but flips the script and ends on a serious high note that is both philosophical and inspirational. Season 7 was never one of my favorite seasons of Buffy, but I like it so much more when paired with Season 4 of Angel.
I always loved Season 6 of Buffy but it doesn't do much to make Angel Season 3 better. This is when the two shows felt most disconnected. So what's your favorite super season?
