Buffyverse with no Buffy

So as the eternal optimist I am still hoping that some day soon we will get a spin off of some kind. Every couple of months there is some news about the Ripper movie / series but then it never pans out.

I'm just wondering, would the fans accept a "Next Generation" type scenario in which a new cast were formed, maybe with a few old faces as regulars or guest stars appearing on a regular basis BUT no Buffy.

I for one would consider it Christmas everyday just to get the animated show up and running.

Just wondering what the consensus is on that possibility.

If it were good, ya. Fray was great and it had no Buffy, same with Angel which barely had Buffy. But you cant have a Buffyverse without appearing every so often...like FaithBuffy said in Who Are You? "Its Wrong"
 
Buffy Animated I have to say is my Holy Grail off Buffydom and I'm so hoping with the comics and reburst of interest developed there plus Twilight I suspect opening a lot of minds to the concept of Buffy for those who've never considered watching it before.....I'm hoping this does give BtAS a fighting chance.

As for a Next Generation theory....it would depend. It would have to be so spectacular that I'd forget the old characters were no longer in it...otherwise I'd miss the originals too much to enjoy the show I think.
 
I think it could be good! I enjoyed some of the STrek spin offs very much. A well done show with an interesting premise is always a welcome addition...add the quirkiness, style and humor of Whedon and it's all the better.

But please don't set it in Cleavland...I would like to see it different enough that it didn't feel it was trying to recreate BTVS, but taking the same premise in a fresh direction.
 
If we're ever to have any kind of Slayer/vampire/demon activity on tv again, it will almost certainly be some sort of "next generation" show or something animated. I would have no problems with "Stephanie The Vampire Slayer," or "Mildred The Demon Hunting Witch," or whatever if the show were up to the standards of the original, and, likewise, I would enjoy a well done animated series based on Season 8 or some alternative.
 
As long as it wasn't just a remake of BTVS with different actors, I'd be all for it. There are endless possibilities for spin-offs not featuring Buffy herself...
 
Talk of Buffy spinoffs and movies and the like have been bought up quite a lot recently, and I've put off posting in the threads concerning them. Mainly because I can't decide upon my feelings. I realised that this because I haven't seen what the results are yet. How can I say whether I would watch something or not without knowing how good it will be? Of course I would watch it, I love my Buffyverse and my Joss, so why wouldn't I?

I can't pretend that I don't love everything about it, because here I am so many years after the show ended on a Buffy forum talking about it. This is clearly a sign that I am obsessed.

I think I could easily love the idea of next generation, I think Joss still has it in him and I think it would greatly depend on the actors that he chose.

It could be a disastor, and it could be fantastic... But I just don't know without seeing it.

PS. An animated show would make me very happy.
 
I'd be all for it, something like Fray, a Slayer & friends in the future perhaps. Or maybe in a not-so-distant future? Could be one of those random potentials somewhere.
 
I'd love all sorts of spin-offs and such.

- An animated continuation, like season eight.
- An animated series based on the original Buffy the Animated Series idea, with Dawn included and taking place during the high school years.
- A series based on another Slayer, after Buffy with an all-new cast. It better be set somewhere non-California-ish, like New England.
- A Faith spin-off. (The very idea is almost orgasmic.)
- A Spike movie.
- A Fray series or movie. (I envision this best as sort of an HBO show, with a big budget, and since Fray seems like it would be a lot edgier it would be at home on pay cable.)
- Maybe an anthology-ish show that covered the lives of past slayers?
- Or maybe a spin-off set in the past that covered the life of one past slayer in particular.
- Hell, I'd even watch that Slayer School show that they briefly talked about. Although Joss hated this idea, I think.
- An animated Angel continuation.

Ah yes...if only they had the resources the Slayerverse franchise could be freakin' massive. 🙂
