You guys are so awesome; feedback helps me out so much.
polexia, the second to last one you posted is the best because it definitely speaks to all of us. It has a great ending. Rayne, and polexia - rhyming really works for you guys.
Rayne, my favorite one is your last one - awesome imagery!
I have a much longer poem this time; it isn't that great, but I thought it'd be okay to share. I wrote it for my twin sister:
"To My Sister on Her Sixteenth Birthday"
I remember
when you never cursed,
"¦or even knew which words to use,
when you said "˜I love you' without another thought
"¦or a pause in between,
when you cried the first day of kindergarten
"¦and I sat with you on the bus ride home,
when I had nightmares that you were gone
"¦and I woke up relieved, but crying still,
when you told me to get my "˜priorities straight'
"¦you did so "˜cause you cared and were concerned.
I can't remember
all our birthdays,
or the first day we spent apart,
or when it was that we grew up,
but I remember that, through all life's curves,
you haven't changed since the first day we met.
Your kindness"¦ your mind"¦ your strength,
you seem to glow because you surpass us all;
you're a face in the crowd,
you're every face I want to see.
And I remember when we were each other's best friend
Because anyone else was second best
And I remember when you never had a boyfriend
Because boys had cooties and we sure didn't
I remember now, when I tell you an important secret
You respect and support them just because.
And when people recognize and admire you
I remember that I get to be your sister;
and you, mine
But I remember that I don't tell you enough
how much I appreciate you and admire your strength,
and that I notice everything you do.
And if the world lets you down when you grow up in it"¦
remember that the world sucks because nothing is eternal;
except for the way our bond is.
