While I understand what you are saying and mean absolutely no disrespect to you or any other person and please forgive me for once again using the "lifestyle" refrence but...your relationship does not obviously allow for natural reproduction...obviously your wife and you will never be able to share a child that is built up from both of your genes...in the same manner a heterosexual couple would.
I totally get what you're saying, and you're right. I will never be able to reproduce with another female the "natural" way. However, science has come very far and semi-clone-experiments have been done on rats where eggs from female rats have been merged and from that little baby girl rats have been born. As far as I'm aware, the baby rats born this way were as normal as baby rats with a mom and a dad. These experiments could be done on humans, and I don't think the results would be so much different.
Of course, this is against all that is "natural", but so is canned food and chemotherapy, so I don't see why lesbian couples shouldn't be able to do it like this.
