Caleb vs The Good Guys

There is something about the situation with Caleb that has always bothered me. Why, after learning very painfully just how powerful he is, does Buffy continue to wander around Sunnydale alone? She has two super powered allies sitting on their hands back at home, either or both of which could join her in a co-ordinated attack and take him out without too much problem. Granted, it's much more dramatic to have her face off with the primary bad guy toe to toe, but she should have learned with Glory that a team effort works best against a more powerful opponent.

Granted, Caleb beat Spike and both Slayers at the vineyard, but it was one on one each time. He never fought them all at once.

Well, I have always considered her not a team player. Of course she has depended on the scoobies and the two vamps for many times but in critical moments she needs to be there alone. She admitted that she has superiority complex in connection with her friends anyways. Giles has put the thought in her mind so many times: she has to be responsible one, she is the only one,etc.

That's why I actually was proud of her in Chosen when she got to the conclusion that she's not alone in this battle and she found a way to share her power. In the last two seasons she has put herself into an isolation, maybe coming out of heaven made the greatest impact, maybe dealing with real life and not being able to express herself. The thought that she is alone in what she feels and in her mission has turned into a fix idea IMO.

Caleb was a responsibility of the One , the "I let that happen" factor. She couldn't bear the guilt. So call it guilt, call it responsibility or a justifying of her honour as a Slayer. She had to face him alone.

Jade makes a great point, I also think it's to do with the fact she's not really that good at thinking things through. Plans aren't her strong point specifically. There's a lot of deliberation. There's scooby gang inputs.

It would have been smarter to include her allies, but she probably had been caught up with what she was feeling to come up with a better idea that fighting him alone.

Not just Buffy, but most of the other characters on the show seem to be tactically impaired. They always go about beating the bad guy in straightforward and not so smart ways... until comes the finale, when they think up brilliant plans. Makes for entertaining television though. It's kind of the same thing they do in horror movies.
