destiny or the absence of destiny....what do you think...feel free to tell stories that illustrate both points...or just tell a funny story...
 
lol, don't believe in Destany or Fate, things happen but I don't think they're preplanned when your born and such
 
total believer in organized chaos...it may not seem like it...but people have destinies...
 
haha! I don't, because I can't believe someone would be destined to become a drug addict and beat they're 5 year old child, and her to get sent away from family and friends to live in Germany...until her parents can be drug free and stop beating the hell out of eachother!(AKA: My uncle, his girlfriend, and my cousin)
 
i didn't say all people follow their destinies...very few ever follow their path...
 
if people don't follow their destinies, then it mustn't really be destiny at all, because destiny is somewhat meant to be guaranteed, isn't it? I feel the meaning of destiny denys free will, and that's what the world is meant to be all about.
 
Exactly FivebyFive..is the same thing wit God, this omnipotent being that knows everything...if he knows everything, then he knows were you are going to be next month, with whom are you getting married, how are ya going to die....where's free will then if you can't change what its supposed to happen.
 
lol...you ladies need to redefine what is free will....cause what may seem like free will to you...are just rules being applied...cause when ya come down to it...human beings may be complex...but more often then not their motives are very, very simple...

and fivebyfiveB...you live in this world...how much control of your life do you really exert...have you ever had any impact on laws that affect even your community...thats why people hate government so much...it sacrifices independance from the common person like yourself...for security so you can go to sleep...

and gwen...have you ever thought that it works the other way....that people are created to change, shape, evolve to weild their destiny...

and yall is forgettin that your destiny isn't something you think....but its something you just know...just like your in love...can't explain why...but it is...the primal stuff just are...
 
I know what you're saying Soulgasm, really. I used to believe in destany, but I lost my faith in it..along w/ God and other things I don't feel like discussing
 
I believe the decisions we make build our future, but I don't believe it will happen because it is in the stars...dunno, something like that. I don't believe in predestination, that's the real word I was trying to use.
 
or rather...create your own destiny....

this discussion is one of those ones where we don't know right now....probably won't know for a while...
 
My belief in faith and destiny went right out the window along with my belief in God. Every single person is responsible for their own life choices. Each choice that we make is the start of a different path in life, alters our future a little bit. Thats where alternate universes come in. Each time you make a choice, it branches out from the universe you live in and continues on. The phrase "infinite diversity in infinite combinations" applies here. If you had just made the other choice, or a different one, your life could've been totally different from the way it is now. Any choice you make could have a major impact on your life, any choice at all, from what outfit your going to where today, to whether you should get on that plane, or even should I have children? They all affect the person your going to be. No one deity or almighty being could control that much of billions of people. No way, no how, no can do. It makes you feel sort of insignificant when you actually listen to a lecture on quantum mechanics.
 
what is destiny? i get confued by these matters could someone explain...i kinda have an idea but i think its wrong...
 
I can't really explain Destany that well, but it's basically like your life was wrote out for you before you were born..like Buffy to become the Slayer. That's what she was destaned to become...does that make any sence?
 
Napolean used to say...that fortune is like a woman...she favors the bold...lol...
 
I have a whole theory on that slayer destiny thing. What if its just a genetic defect that makes a certain girl freakishly strong and its very rare. And one day this council of old dudes decided to exploit this defect for their own advantage and ambitions. It completely throws the whole universe out of whack...
