Hi vegetarians and vegans! I thought it would be fun if we shared recepies and talked about things related to vegetarianism/veganism. 🙂

Two questions to begin with:
- What are some of the things you like to eat?
- How long have you been a vegetarian or vegan?

Note: this is not a discussion thread about why you choose not to eat meat and so on. 🙂

Hi all, I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I feel I'm on that path...
Since a couple of months ago I've been having some problems eating meat, in the way that when I eat a stake or some other meat I (sorry for not being elegant) feel like barfing. It makes me sick thinking that what I'm eating is meat made of living animals and I honestly don't know what to think. It's not like a choice made out of ethics, it's honestly because most of the time thinking that I'm eating meat makes me sick! How should I define myself?

I'm not sure I eat anything different to the normal vegan to really add anything of worth to this thread T___T Plus I can't cook to save my life.

I will say vegan burgers are yummy as Hell, but avoid vegan sausage at all costs! YUCK! xD

I've been vegetarian for 4 years 7 months 🙂 Although I do buy all the Vegan alternatives, so I do eat alot more Vegan then Vegetarian really lol 😀
I've 2 Vegan cookbooks and have been trying some recipes out of them these past few months, will have to write down what I've tried so far 🙂
(Goes to find the book 😀)

I have been a vegetarian for about 15 years! I eat Quorn stuff etc, I need to try some more 'proper' cooking though really....

Im not a vegetarian, but i do like to try different foods. I tried a nut roast and liked it. I tried quorn and thought it was vile.

I tried a spicy bean burger and loved it :-D i need to try making one really. 😛

I get that feeling, it can make me sick too to think about! I think you can define yourself however you want, but not all vegetarians and vegans are so because of etics, health can be involved to for example. 🙂 if you feel like you want to stop eating meat (sounds like it 😀), try it for a while and see how it goes I say! There are so many tasty things you can eat that aren't made of dead animals. 🙂

Hahaha, yes, vegan sausages are often so gross! All grey and dry! Why is it so hard to produce one?

Yeah, it's easy to get lazy now that there is so much frozen alternatives out there. It's both a blessing and a curse! 😀

So last week I got inspired by a vegan sandwich I ate at a coffee place a few months ago and decided to make my own version. It turned out even yummier! Listen to this: ciabatta bread, pesto rosso as a base on it. Then fresh green sallad, marinated tofu with rosted sesame seeds, avocado and cucumber. Finished it off with some salt. Sooooooooooo yummy!!!

I'm not sure if you can read that very well :S I'd posted a recipe on my tumblr blog ages ago. It's from a book I bought called 'Easy Vegan Cooking' and this is one of the things I tried from it, it was delicious!! 😀 Just to add, this is more like a loaf of bread with a sweet topping, it's not a cake, like you'd serve as dessert. Not for me anyway lol It was delicious though, I ended up making my mum one, just for her and my sister 2! 😀

OMG! I have no idea why my picture is soooo big 😱 It's tiny on my blog and on my laptop, almost so you can't read it! Very odd 😱 Feel free to resize it, I'm not sure how 😕

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat a lot of meat. I've made several of these recipes and they've all been pretty good. When I'm not eating meat I usually substitute in some extra beans or quinoa into whatever I am making.

This is gorgeous!!! I would've eaten these all day if I could lol

I hate to say it, but i've been off/on vegetarian for nearly eleven years. Usually the harder times in my life I tend to ignore my eating lifestyles and take whats available. However, when I am full on vegetarian, it feels great. I was only a vegan for six months. It took up too much of my time (hate to say) to continue that lifestyle.. espically once I went from 0 kids to 3 kids, haha. Now, I must add that many people don't always consider you a vegetarian if you eat dairy.. so I sometimes fail here as well.

Anyways, over the summer we made this awesome Tuscon White Bean Burgers- i'll have to dig up the recipe. Here is the pic from our very own kitchen.. [well, its not letting me upload it..]

I'm a vegan, but I don't like to cook, mostly I just make things that are done in 5 minutes. but one of my favorite things is tahini, I make a sauce of it that I eat with practically everything.

OMG! Thats exactly what happened to me. About 6 months ago I stopped eating red meat. I got so grossed out by it. And exactly a week ago I had the same experience with chicken. I have now decided to leave behind chicken too. I guess I'm a newly vegeterian.
😀

I'm glad this thread was created I need to learn what to eat now. 🙂
