Can Buffy's Scythe Kill Illyria?

Illyria is overrated. Once upon a time she was practically invincible,i mean, ok take the illyria from ancient times, could superman even beat her? Doubt it. So of course Buffy would lose to True Illyria. But that was then, this is now. Whats Illyrias skills again? Shes very strong, she can make Wes think hes talking to Fred, thats about it. No time powers, nowhere near truely invincible.

^it dont really matter what her true form was like. Its the Fred form that counts.

Why? Her true form appears in After the Fall...

um, ancient times AND in the 21st Century [see AtF]

BillyIdolWannaB agrees: Illyria was not omnipresent was she?
Well no, but she claimed that she once was multi-present.

ILLYRIA
All I am is what I am. I lived 7 lives at once. I was power and the ecstasy of death. I was god to a god.
Now... I—I'm trapped... on a roof. Just one roof... in this time and this place

Ah so it was in the non canon(to me) Atf. I gave up on that lameness after 4 issues. I base all my buffyverse thoughts on the tv series. And all this Illyria talks put me in the mood for s5. Im watching shells onwards.

Nother thing. Glory(i know, not her again) was capable of tearing houses down(tough love) and causing an earthquake with a half strengthed stomp(no place like home). I cant remember Illyria performing that level of strength. Now, as Buffy could take Glory with a hammer, there must be a chance she could take Illyria with an axe?

The Hammer of a God vs an Axe made by women?

Also, ust because Illyria doesn't choose to tear down a house or make an earthquake happen by taking a step, doesn't mean she wasn't capable - just means she didn't do it.

For all we know, she might have been able to fire lightning bolts out her ass at any given time with 100% precision (I would imagine any minor miscalculation would cause severe chaffing) or lick through an everlasting gobstopper in three licks.

LMAO at your status. Im admiring Harms in shells :)
Yeah she 'might' have been able to do that stuff, but we didn't see that, or anything like it. And was the god hammer actually made by a god, i cant remember? Don't get why a real god would need a hammer anyway!

Thor had Mjolnir!

It was referred to as the Hammer of a God, so thats what it is, the Slayers Scythe is the Slayers Scythe, thus not a god!

I guess my point is we have only what we see as evidence and the simple truth is, Glory was beaten and Illyria still exists.

Anything other than that is just peoples opinions BUT we can be sure that a being like Illyria had great power to do the things she did.

Well, the scythe is still a mystery from the way I see it. Perhaps it could put a number on Illyria, but I can't be sure because I don't know enough about it. Also, I think in one issue of the comics, the scythe was broken in half during a fight between Buffy and Maleka. If it's that unbearable where it can't sustain a brawl between two Slayers, I don't see it standing too well against a God, and a powerful God on top of that. Olaf's Hammer is something that would work in Buffy's favor. If Buffy could use it to make the all mighty Glory look like road kill and beg for mercy, I wouldn't be surprised if she did the same to Illyria.

The Scythe was Buffy's, or a future version of it to be technical. But it was the same Scythe. Point is, the Scythe was severed in a battle between Buffy and Maleka. So obviously, it was far from invulnerable in ordinary combat. With that said, I don't believe it would've been much of an asset facing Illyria, whose shell brushed off "medieval junk" like wood struck against titanium. Maybe it could do some damage to post-Time Bomb Illyria, but fresh out of the oven, not really.

^see, I disagree with that point. I think the Scythe's "enchanted" nature would mean it would probably do some damage to Illyria on impact. By that I mean the scythe should be able to puncture her skin, unlike standard weapons which don't (both Spike & Angel's swords didn't hurt her, even when she squeezed them in her hands). Think about holy objects and vamps, I'd imagine the Scythe would trigger a similar reaction with Old Ones.

All that said, I'd say the only point in which Buffy + Scythe would stand a chance against Illyria would be directly after Wes sapped her power. Full-Powered-Illyria-in-Fred's-Body would tear Buffy apart, and Illyria in her true form would be absurd against Buffy since she could literally just step on Buff.

A gardien stated that is actually wasnt built for vampires it was actually bulid to kill the last pure demon that walked upon earth!!!

The transcript says

'Forged there, it was put to use right here...to kill the last pure demon that walked upon the Earth. The rest were already driven under. And then there were men here, and then there were monks. And then there was a town, and now there was you. And the scythe remained hidden.'

This states that it was not forged to kill the last pure demon just simply put to use to do it. Yes, the scythe is powerful enough to kill a pure demon. However it hints later on that the scythe is not to be used as a weapon, which we assume is the Guardian referring to Willow's spell.

Thanks
^yeah something like that. The last demon to leave this reality bit a human to mix their blood then that one bit another, and another...

Nah the Scythe couldn't kill Illyria, probably damage or injure her but not wipe her out for good. Shes too strong even when weakened and not got her time manipulation power. I think it would take a lot to kill Illyria or put her back in the deeper well, we're talking a pure demon who was once a ruler (I think) who put in motion (again I think) to be ressurected in some capacity.

I think Wes said something like she was the ruler of the world.
