Can people sometimes NOT see The First?

At the beginning of the season when Spike is going crazy, he's constantly visited by himself. That was The First looking like Spike right? And if it was, why is it that sometimes only Spike was the one who could see it? Can The First choose to only be seen by certain people? Just wondering. 🙂

Yes. If I'm remembering correctly, when The First is showing up as Warren to Andrew and they try and record it... it says something like "you see what I want you to see, you hear what I want you to hear." It makes sense... It's powerful enough to only manifest and show itself to some people and not others at any given time.

Yes, it can make itself seen to whoever it wants, even if another person is nearby. In Amends, Giles can't see The First, though it appears right behind him to Angel.
