Can We All Take a Moment& Appreciate the Fact That Composer Ennio Morricone Has Finally Won an Oscar

Yes, Leo has won after 6 nominations (I'm happy for him, and I'mma let him finish) but that's nothing compared to legendary Ennio Morricone's unbelievable 527 credits and 57 years as a film composer. The 87-year-old has previously won an honorary Oscar for "his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music" and was nominated 6 times. This win was long overdue.

In case you don't know who this man is, I guarantee you, you know his music. Here are some of his most legendary pieces:

Ennio Morricone should have been nominated and win the Oscar for either The Good the Bad and the Ugly or Once Upon a Time in the West, two of the greatest Westerns ever made, brought to life through his fantastic scores and the storytelling prowess of Sergio Leone. Though I have mixed feelings about the movie The Hateful Eight, the music was one of the things I really liked about that film (apparently it was the first score Ennio had done in years). Glad he finally got his due, well done!

It was good to see him win finally.
Morricone är the only movie composer that I have ever payed any attention to.

Not a huge fan of movie music in generally.
But Morricone has done some amazing stand out work so even I noticed it. 🙂

And by the way, I didn't make this thread because he now owns an Oscar. I don't care all that much about awards. His legacy alone is worth more than a hundred Oscars. This is about the Academy finally recognizing the great work of this man. An honorary Oscar is just kind of an afterthought or something, in my opinion.
