Can we produce Angel ourselves?

Let me know if someone has come up with this idea already...

This is all about the money it costs the WB to produce the show. With all the money we're pouring into the saving Angel campaign, couldn't we just pay for the new episodes ourselves? How much would that actually cost? I for one would be willing to pay $10 a week or something for the sake of new Angel episodes. I can't be the only one.

Good idea...I could surerly pay for DB's salary, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be enough to buy him any clothes😉

Seriously tho I think it might be hard..to get all the money needed every week..I guess people'd have to pay in big advance

I don't think so, the stars cost thousands each. I mean we might be able to afford one actor, so maybe "Angel's Monologues"

I don't think this is possible...David and James win a lot of money per ep...there's also the other actors,directors,writers,ect...it would be way too expensive...sorry,but no way..::crying::.

I read that the WB's portion of the show is only $1 million to $1.2 million per episode. If we got 50,000 people to pay $20 a week we'd have that and be able to finance Angel.

(Side note: are you a native Spanish speaker by any chance? I'm asking because I know in Spanish the words for "earn" and "win" are the same.)

You're not going to find that many people willing to pay. So far SaveANGEL has only gathered like in the thousands, not millions.

And even if they had gathered in the millions that would still only pay for one show. It's just not a feasible idea...wish it were, but it won't work...

The Plan

Here's the plan I suggested on the SaveAngel-dot-org board:

Simon pointed out:
Remember, it's not $20/week for 50,000 people, but $440 per person per season (22 episodes).
Or 100,000 people to pony up $220
Or one million people to pay $22

And I responded:
You get one lawyer and a contract that stipulates that if Angel is renewed the contractee will give $440 into a trust managed by the lawyer to be dispensed to Mutant Enemy or whomever. The contract can even stipulate that it won't go into effect unless a total of 50,000 people sign the copies of the same contract, all contracts notorized and mailed to the hands of the lawyer. That's it. A trust can be managed by one lawyer and there are certainly trusts out there worth multiple millions of dollars.

It's not that hard.

So all you have to do is have a lawyer draw up a contract and get 50,000 people willing to pony up $440 and you have a new season of Angel.

thats interesting...but i doubt it would work. You'd need alot of money and I think after a while people would get tired of paying for it. I wish it could work though, that would be awesome!
