Can you have a soul without a conscience?

I think it's just poor grammar, and the writter meant to imply the soul features a conscience.
 
I love this question - a good one to think of when I cant sleep at night haha. I havent come up with a complete understanding of my answer yet.

I figure the soul is the essence of a person, the spirit driving the body, where as a conscience is the moral sense of right and wrong. Angel would have felt guilty because his conscience told him too, once his spirit was connect to his body. Morals and ethics have changed over the lifetime of the vampire, so the compass might be off when the soul is retrieved. When the soul was returned, so was the sense of wrong doing and therefore the guilt. Without the soul there wasn't any guilt when it came to wrong doing because the spirit wasnt driving.

Anyone wana smart that up for me?
 
So is the conscience part of who you are (and comes on a sliding scale of amount a person listens to their conscience) so when who you are is taken away your degree of conscience goes with it?
 
Warren was an example of a person with a soul but not a conscience. A soul has more to do with consciousness than conscience. A conscience is a feature of a soul but it is missing in psychopaths and sociopaths such as Kralik and Warren. There are different degrees of suppression of the conscience as exhibited by Andrew and Johnathan but in some people like Warren, it does not appear to exist at all. These people know the difference between right and wrong but they have no empathy for anyone else.
 
Warren had a conscience. He was just very self-involved and lacked morality. The fact he wanted to avert the blame for Katrina's death away from him shows he had a conscience. He knew, even though it was accidental, that her death was wrong and his actions that contributed to her accidental death were wrong. He just didn't want to be punished for them. In my opinion he had a conscience, he just lacked morals.
 
Knowing the law about murder does not equate to having a conscience. There are psychopaths who never violate statutes, not because they have a conscience nor do they empathize with their prospective victims but because they are afraid of the consequences of what they would otherwise do if they got caught.
 
It's not about knowing the law, it's about him knowing right from wrong. That is a conscience. He even felt bad when he made and abandoned his first sexbot. That is a conscience. I don't believe for a second that Warren did not have a conscience.
 
Warren had a conscience, it may have been weak and malformed, but he had one, and murder clearly broke him, and while I think it was mostly fear, he was sincere in his repentance before Willow, and Willow knew that. Which makes what Willow next did all the more horrible.
