While I was in school/college I worked part time at a holiday centre doing maintenance and working in the arcade as well as working in a game shop. Once college was over I applied for Assistant Manager at a new games shop which I got; quickly I became store manager and ran the place for 6 years. I got bored and quit then worked for a magazine publisher, writing reviews and flying around the world interviewing celebrities etc. That was the best job I've ever had, I lost the job recently and haven't done much since aside from some freelance writing. Considering I'm only in my late 20's I am quite pleased with my track record! On Thursday I have an interview for a Store Manager position in a Charity shop.. not sure if it's the right type of thing for me but it would certainly be different.

Long term I have no idea what I want to do 🙁

I'm working on my PhD (almost done with coursework; nearly time for dissertation. Eep!) and teaching. I'll probably teach if the US educational system doesn't completely implode in the next few years, though I'd really like to write full time.

Wouldn't say I'm proud of it, it's just who I am. I am glad I don't have to work, though, and to live in a country that will provide for me. Social support systems rock. 🙂

I feel like I've said this a lot before... I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and have practiced as a child/adolescent therapist. Specifically, I have worked with traumatized and severely mentally ill populations. My plan is to go back and complete my Ph.D. in Clinical Psych and either teach or train other therapists.

I'm a church secretary/mom/wife. I work at the church 20 hours a week and love being a SATM the rest of the time!

I love my actual job, but dealing with people can be so difficult at times.

I was going to school to be a lawyer, but got side-tracked with the whole getting married thing. 🙂

I'm a student in Computer Science with a year left to go, but for the summer I have a part time job making websites. It's good money and it's a super chill job atmosphere since the company I work for is very small, so I really like it.

For a while I wanted to go to graduate school and do AI research, but this past spring semester was really tough(although my adviser did warn me that the schedule I was taking was insane. I should have listened) and I don't know if I can handle even harder school. And my grades dropped as well so idk if I can even get in. But it's nice taking a summer off being a student and working. I like my job. I get to work on some really interesting websites and it's not super high stress and high pressure like school.

I've just graduated from uni with a master's in English (two minors in Russian and Media) & moved from Germany to London because back home people aren't exactly queuing up to employ you with that sort of degree, and over here language skills are a lot more appreciated than back home (because fewer people have them, for some reason). I've been temping for an agency for the last few weeks, doing basic translations, office admin and customer service.
It pays the bills, but is obviously not ideal as I have to travel a lot and get used to new stuff pretty much every two days.

However, I'm starting a permanent job on Tuesday, it's nothing too fancy but it's a big company and the pay is much better than everything else I've done before. Basically I'll be responsible for the clients from German and English speaking countries, communication between the different language departments and basic office admin. It sounds interesting and I'm sure it's something I can be doing for a while without getting bored.

My ultimate goal is getting into publishing, either as a literary agent or a rights/licensing person. It's an incredibly hard sector to get into though, so I need to get some proper experience first before they will even look at my CV.

Originally I graduated from uni from majoring in Japanese studies, with a minor in culture and history.
By the time I got done I was so sick and tired of Japan and Japanese that I decided not go and work for a Japanese corporation, but get a postgrad in Business communications and see what my other options are (My opinion at the time was: I want to work with Japanese, just not for the Japanese).

I've worked for an American company mostly active in automotive (Hellooo Toyota account) and have now switched to being an outsourcement chameleon (or project asssitant oficially) for a recruiting office.
Basically I can be outsourced to the recruitment's office's customers who are looking for temporary workers for their company in pretty much any department. (sales, marketing, communication & PR,management assistant profiles, ....) Our backoffice makes sure we are never "without project" , so I'm sure I have a steady income with benefits...
I've been hired for my versatility and language skills and mostly switched careers because I still really don't know down which career path I'd like to venture. This job is a great way to go out and explore different pathways, without getting the reputation of not being loyal or skipping jobs easily...

But the dream still is to have my own business, just need to get working on that really good "hole in the market" - idea 😀

And I'd like to be a writer, but there's not too many options for Belgian writers anyway, so I think I'll just pursue it as a hobby 🙂

I mentioned earlier that for several years I wanted to be a teacher but couldn't deal with the pressure when I actually tried. Going back to my old school this last weekend for a dinner, I think I can see why I wanted to do it- although I couldn't see it or appreciate it at the time, I was educated in a very nurturing school by teachers who turned out to be interesting people as well as good at communicating their subject. I know I could never be that good now, and I wouldn't put myself through the near-breakdown I had on the teacher training course, but then again I think it's a mistake to treat education as just communicating information. It can also be about how to live as a well-rounded person with lots of interests and how you treat the people around you.

In my ideal world, I want to be a young adult writer.

In my near ideal world, I would be a fashion designer.

In my slightly less near ideal world, I would run my own school for interactive learners.

And in my realistic but fun world, I'm currently planning to double major in psychology and sociology when I go to college after my senior year.

hen again I think it's a mistake to treat education as just communicating information. It can also be about how to live as a well-rounded person with lots of interests and how you treat the people around you.

I wonder how many do that mistake. Even one would be too much.

My day job is as a hotel clerk.

My absolute dream is to do something with music. I play a lot of instruments and I write a lot. I've got some pretty decent connections worked up. But. It's an extremely tough field to crack.

My backup plan is owning a business making re-enactment clothing for medieval and civil war eras. That is actually going pretty well and it's a lot of fun.

Right now I work as a caretaker for my grandmother. My mom is the primary caregiver, and I come in for her a few days a week. I stay at my mom's house because she lives with my Gramma, so I get a 3 bedroom house all to myself and my person. (Plus the pets. 😛)

Long term, I can't really see myself doing this for other people. I do it for my Gramma because I love her and she's done so much for me in my life. But I wanna be a lawyer eventually. It's my dream. I'm working on a paralegal degree right now, but because of Gramma, I can't go full time. I'm working on it class by class right now, but I'm more than halfway done.

I'm a student, so at the moment my "career" is working part-time in retail. It's not intellectually stimulating or exciting and I make minimum wage, but hey, it's a lot better than nothing. I've also worked quite a few temp jobs (I've done research and I've worked at a couple of different universities) and I do a lot of volunteer work, but sadly, my retail job is the only one that pays me.

My dream job would definitely involve working in academia in some way, shape, or form. I'm studying political science undergrad and was completely convinced that I'd go on and study it in grad school for a long time, but I just had a gig at a graduate school of education and absolutely loved the people I met there so I've started to consider venturing into that realm as well. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I'm currently a care assistant in a residential home for the elderly and I used to love it but now I just want to quit, I'm on 12 hour shifts now and most of the time I just want to cry, not to mention I'm always coming home covered in bruises.

My dream job would be an administrator in the British Army, I've wanted to do that for a long time, but I'm not quite ready for that, but yeah that's what I'd like to do.

I work for HorrorSociety.com, which you can visit in my signature. Mostly do movie reviews & news, sales projections, celebrity interviews, and on set visits for exclusives. Pretty fun! It's the closest thing I got right now to a career with my B.A. Media & Film.

However, the pay is all perks/benefits. So, to pay the bills I'm a front end manager at a grocery store. I get to boss around all the people who do self scan, the registers, customer service, and handle redbox/coin star. I enjoy the power (what little power i have).

Dream job would...a professional wrestler...or...stripper.

What is your job?/What are you training to be?/What would you like to do?

I have a BA degree in english, but I currently work for a great non-profit as a employment counselor, mostly with young adults. I love it, actually. I don't know if it's what I want to do forever, but for now I'm really happy. I think I'd like to go to graduate school to be a social worker, but I'm not sure. I love writing, but I'm more interested in doing it on the side or as a hobby, not trying to make a living off it. I love people, and I think I'd be a great social worker.

If you have a job, are you happy in that occupation?

I'm a secondary Teacher and a Teacher-Librarian but at the moment I am doing casual supply teaching (Substitute/relief), which I really like because the pay is good and I never work five days a week. It's great when I get regular work, less great when the work goes through a dry spell.
