Episodic, although there are story elements that continue in the background over time.

This was another good episode. Nice to see Beckett loosening up a bit, and even actually talking about her mother's murder of her own volition.

I hope we get to find out someday exactly where Castle got all this knowledge and insight into criminals and the underworld that he has. Seems like there's more to it than just having done a lot of research.
