A few years ago, I read somewhere that James Marsters' house is located in Santa Monica, near the beach. I think James himself said that. And I remember me saying that if I ever get to Santa Monica, I will check every house that's near the beach till I find the right one 😛

That leads me to....

If you had known the exact address of the cast members (any or one of them), what would you do?

This thread feels slightly stalkerish.
Nothing. If I knew where Eliza lived I wouldn't do anything cause that would be stalking. I think it would be cool to see her house but not in a stalking manner.

I might drive by just to see what it looked like, but other than that nothing. Maybe send a Christmas card or something. I suppose it would depend on how I got the information. 🙂 But nothing stalkerish.

I wouldn't do anything. I don't want strangers bothering me at my home, so I wouldn't bother anyone at theirs.

Actors go to conventions, book signings, premiers, talk shows and whatnot to connect with fans; it just doesn't seem appropriate to go to their home.

Yeah, if I was in the same country I'd probably drive by if I was in the area, see what it was like, but only briefly, I wouldn't gawp through the windows or anything lol. I know they're famous and all, but if someone I didn't know sent me something to my personal address, or posted on twitter that they'd been to my personal address, I'd be really freaked out.

This reminds me of something that happened to Zachary Levi recently. He tweeted that a fan showed up at his door and he thanked the fans that weren't that fan for respecting his privacy.

That being said, if I had James' address, I'd probably stalk the street outside so that when he came out I could "accidentally" run into him. This would also work with Sullivan. Who I think is one of the most amazing kids in the world.

Depends on which actor I suppose. But for those that I like--not even obsessively like, just normal like--I would probably hope to run into them accidentally. As in walk by their house more than necessarily, walking my dogs or listening to my iPod or something casual like that, and just think of how cool it would be if I bumped into them.

Perhaps just send them a letter telling them know how awesome they are and that you won't bother them again you just wanted to let them know 🙂 I would never do anything stalker-like I think I'd just like to see where they lived

Exactly. Just because someone is a celebrity doesn't mean EVERY aspect of their life is public domain. I wouldn't want random people driving by or staring at my house so I would never feel comfortable driving by one of my fave celebrities' homes.

I get that... but I'm going to use a quote from my dear lovely idol, Taylor Swift.

"I know that there are fans at the restaurant across the street from my house, but I'm going to go walk down the street and get coffee, because I like to walk and go get coffee. (Interviewer: But don't they come up to you?) Yes, but it's like 20 seconds of your day to get a picture with someone. So you can live your life, you can get pictures with fans, you can, you know, stop for a minute. Because they've given me a lot more than I ever expected to have in this life, so a minute of your time really isn't that much to ask."

Now, I'm not saying this is the exact same situation, but walking down the street in the neighborhood is pretty similar to sitting at the restaurant across the street.

I think running into someone on the street (or at a coffee shop) is a little different than actively going to someones home and waiting around for them. In my opinion, going to their home is invading their personal space and privacy.

However, I do agree with and admire Taylor's generosity when it comes to the amount of time and kindness she shows her fans. She truly is a lovely idol 😉

The reason I used that quote was because I know a lot of people who have gone to that restaurant across the street from her apartment when she's in Nashville JUST so that they can see her when she comes out. To me, it's the same thing. Walking down the street, sitting at the coffee shop... either way you're going to where that person lives just to see them for a second.

And yes, she is truly a lovely idol. She's my hero and she saved and changed my life.

I don't know why, but I don't find going to a restaurant across the street as intrusive. But, you are right, those situations aren't all that different.
Well I wouldn't stalk them, but I would probably walk my dog past there house more than necessary. Maybe everyday so it doesn't look suspicious, just my routine walking route. 😛 And then I would just listen to my iPod, look like I don't notice the house and hope to one day "accidentally" bump into them... Is that stalking? 😛

Lol I'm kidding. It would be cool finding out a celebrity I'm a fan of lived around my area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go near it every chance I could, that's just creepy.

Haha, exactly what I posted above.

Well if you are out and about in a celebrity's hometown and happen to run into them, that's one thing. If you actively put yourself into a place and stay there just to run into a favorite celebrity, that seems like a pretty unhealthy obsession to me. I'm not attacking but when I see people like that, I worry for the celebrity they're waiting on. I live near Nashville, so when I go shopping down there, I see a lot of this type of thing going on and it sickens me.
I understand that they're celebrities and having fans is part of the deal, but the fans need to be more respectful of their idols.

Not attacking but it "sickens" you? Judgemental much?

I agree with this, I think I'd probably be quite embarrassed to do it as well, because I think it comes off as a bit desperate/lame if you get what I mean.

zobothehobo disagrees: Not attacking but it "sickens" you? Judgemental much?

Calling me judgemental isn't attacking? Hmmmm, ok. Seems we have different opinions on that... and a lot of things, but whatever.
NO, I do not condone stalkerish behavior. Putting yourself in certain situations just because you know someone else is going to be there, so that you can attempt to force interaction is stalking. Sorry, but it is, and that is crazy to me. I don't care if the person is famous or not; if you are trying to follow them around or be where they are just because they're there, you're acting like a stalker and that's not healthy.

I agree with HisMrs it is stalkerish behavior even if the person doesnt mean it to be. There's a line and waiting around by their home is crossing it. Waiting around a set or a place you know theyre going to be appearing is one thing because that is part of their job. But their home is private and personal and its an invasion of their privacy. They don't owe us everything. They're entitled to some privacy and true fans should be able to tell the difference.

I didn't say I wasn't attacking you. I said I felt attacked. You said you weren't attacking, but then said that actions like that (actions that I feel are perfectly justified and would do myself if I had the resources) sicken you. Because I feel they're perfectly justified and would do it myself if I had the resources, it felt like an attack. The word "sicken" is really harsh. That's all I'm saying.

Also... I don't think it's stalking. Stalking is taking pictures and going there every night. But taking a trip to Nashville or Santa Monica when you know they'll be home and just walking down the street outside the apartment/neighborhood isn't stalking. Looking in their windows is. Trying to get in the apartment building is. But just walking down the street? no. Taking a trip to Nashville when Taylor's home and sitting at the restaurant across the street in hopes you'll get to see her... that's just extreme fandom. Knocking on her door like that fan did to Zachary Levi... that's stalking. That's something I don't condone. It's a judgement call... but it's not black and white.

And just out of curiosity... since you did say "follow around" or "be there just because they're there" and I did bring up Taylor Swift... how do you feel about the people who follow musical tours. Like Deadheads... or modern versions of them? I know some people who followed Taylor through most of her tour this summer. And I know of people who follow James from convention to convention. I also know it's quite comforting to know your celebrity is even in the same city as you. I didn't get to go to the show when Taylor was here in Raleigh last Thursday... but I did feel good knowing she was here. So I get even just going to Nashville when Taylor's home or going to Santa Monica when James is home just be be in the same city as them. That's not stalking... it's wanting to feel closer. And I think it's a matter of passion. People who feel that comfort knowing they're in the same city as their celebrities. Knowing their celebrity lives across the street from the restaurant they went to lunch at... that's not an unhealthy person, it's a passionate person.

The question is, what would you do if you knew where a celebrity lived. Let's not start a fight because people have different opinions about what they'd do with that information.

I wouldn't go press my face up against a celebrity's window or knock on his/her door...but I wouldn't feel bad about doing one of those drive around trips to look at the giant, awesome celebrity houses...especially of celebrities that I actually am interested in. I don't see that as stalking or even odd behavior...in fact I enjoy driving through the country and looking at regular people's giant houses, so I'm pretty sure it'd be even more fun to me if it was SMGs house.
