Are you a cat or dog person? Everyone is one or the other. Im personally a dog person, i love them. Do you think it says alot about you?

<--- Future crazy cat lady.

I wouldn't say that it says a lot about the person though. It's just a preference.

I live with both at the moment (cat at uni, dog at home) and although I like cats I'm definitely more of a dog person. They're better companions and they make you actually get outside to walk them or to buy them dog treats or whatever. When I get my own place I'm definitely getting my own dog (or two).

Dogs all the way! I've always had dogs. Cats creep me out. And they're usually snobs and don't come when you call them, and they scratch. I don't really like cats, but like Willow says: "I'm not like 'deathness to all cats'". Because I like animals in general, even ugly things, so when someone hurts a cat that hurts me. Cats like me though. And when I was a kid, I found a little kitty that didn't seem to have parents, so I knocked on every door around, looking for someone who's willing to adopt him/her. I just wouldn't ever want to raise a cat at my house. Also because my dog hates cats. She likes people, other dogs, and other animals, but not cats.

I don't think loving dogs or cats really mean anything about you. It's just things you like or don't like or prefer. Someone prefers apples, someone else prefers pears. It doesn't really mean anything. Some things do, but I don't believe this one does.

Is this even a question?

I'm a dog person. I love dogs - like sisterofmercy said, they keep you active, and they can be trained to do a lot of useful things.
And I just love them.

Do you think a controlling person might like dogs, But a submissive person might like cats?

No. I don't even like the idea of controlling dogs. For me, my dog is equal to me, she's even better than me and I care about her more than I care about myself. I don't really tame her either that much, because she's very very smart and is aware of what's right and wrong, and what we want from her. I don't really teach her orders either. I mostly talk to her and she understands me and learns words by that. She knows over 70 words that she's learned all by herself, only by listening.

I hear ya, ive had a few dogs, but, Dogs need to be controlled, just like a child needs to be controlled. I didnt mean anything like we're better than dogs.

No.

Depending on what breed of dog you've got, the dog tends to control you at times. My Jack Russell/Terrier cross is definitely the boss in our house.

My Jack Russell controls the house too. :)
I don't know, I love both of them! But I've only ever grown up with cats so I'm used to them more. Plus I think if I didn't vote cat, the cat that's actually sitting on me right now might dig her claws in!

I know. But I'll give you an example of what I mean. They say we should train dogs to walk at our side, and basically control them, instead of letting them be free to go to whichever direction they want.
In my opinion, If they want to walk in front, they're allowed. I don't see why we shouldn't let them do it and control them like that.

Mr Giles agrees: I let my dog go whatever direction he wanted, he ended up with 3 legs.

When they tell us to keep our dogs by our side, they don't mean so they wouldn't run toward the road or something. It's simply about controlling the dog, to tame it, to show it that you're in charge, that you're the pack's leader. Don't you watch The Dog Whisperer? 😉

I agree, as long as they're well behaved enough not to run into traffic or attack toddlers or anything

I think it does say a lot about you at leSt it does me. I'm a cat person. I have four. Reason I prefer cats is I like that they dont like you lol I like that they only want attention and love on their terms. Cats are selfish and nasty and loners. I like that about them. I also love that theyre evil so its fun to bother them. Its really fun to mess with them because they get angry lol. Whereas with dogs if you do that theyre like why dont you love me?? Its not about love with cats. So yeah I think that says a lot if you prefer evil creatures over mans best friend.

Also cats dont need to be walked or bathed theyre more self sufficient.

I don't know. I hate it when people tell me that they love me or miss me. But I love dogs, they're the most happy "person" to see you when you get home.

Really, you hate when people tell you they love you?
I love both dearly. But I've never had a cat as a pet due to my mom and sister being allergic. I've only had dogs. So I guess I'm more of a dog person by default.

I am a dog person through and through. My dog is like my third child. I also have two cats, but I have never liked cats. We never had them when I was growing up, and my thought is that unless you have a rodent problem, they are pretty useless. My cats are very friendly and generally nice, I would just prefer not to have any after they're gone.

Dogs befriend you; they are loyal; they sense your emotions and act accordingly. My dog is extremely intelligent and I have worked with training her a lot. I walk her often and we have a ton of fun. She is awesome with my kids and loves cuddling. My family has always had dogs; you go to our cabin in the summer and they are everywhere! Anyway, yes, dog person all the way.
