Caucasoid, Negroid, Mangaloid.... Slayer?

I was taking my midterm today and this one queston was about species. It said something like "a group of organisms that are extremely similar, but set apart from the others by certain characteristics", so, in my boredness, I started thinking about something other than the extremely important test.

Could Slayers be considered a species? I mean, they are a goup of organisms that are similiar, but they are different from all the others (if they were classified as a new species) because they are Slayers.

I know there are different species of demons and stuff.

So, do you think Slayers could be considered a new species?
 
I think they could be considered a species, a somewhat rare species in the past since there was only 1 at a time but now a species. Slayers could also be considered half breeds since they are half demon and half human.
 
Darn you! Now I'm all thinking deep thoughts when I really got online to squee about last night's Angel.


But, yeah. I think they could be considered some sort of species or half-breed.
 
I'm sorry, not with you 🙁... Slayers appear in all different races. They are born as humans. And I have never seen a creature change from one species to another over time. We saw in Get It Done that the slayer was forged when the cave men put the demon mist in the slayer. So I think the slayer as entity consists of two different creatures. One being the symbiot-demon and one being the human host.

That's my take on it.

I totally agree with Allycat. How often does your dog randomly change into a cat? They are all human, just a little more unique than most. They're just humans with more much power than your average joe. Doesn't make them a different species IMO. The slayer is still human, they just also have something else inside of them.
 
Maybe I didn't word it correctly. Probably not. LoL. Um. Caucasoid, negroid, and mangaloid are different races of people, not species. So, looking at it like that, do you still think they could be considered a new race?

I'm not disagreeing with you or Allycat, I'm just trying to have a conversation, LoL.
 
It's never occured to me to think of Slayers as part demon before... huh...
 
I LOVE this thread! After considering both sides, I'd have to say that although I SEE both sides I would have to agree that Slayers do hold a lot of characteristics that could define them as a seperate species...this is really interesting...hmmm...

Well, people can't change from one race to another. (Unless you're Micheal Jackson) So I still don't think so, sorry 🙁

Allycat, aren't "race" and "species" two different things??

Considering vampires don't count themselves as human, I suppose slayers might be a different (yet very similar) species as well. Both were born human, but now have other (demonesque) abilities.
 
Yeah TYC, race and species are two different things.

Species are for example; bunnies, cats and dogs. Races are for example; German Shephards, Poodles and Collies.
 
Ahhhh....race not species...very very different...cleared that mess in my head up nicely, ok maybe not, still much confusion up there. But I could say yes and no to a "slayer" race. There are good points for and against it the idea that they are they're own race. Now after season 7, the points saying they are may have gained a bit more momentum....
