Forty years old this year. Just in time for the new movie released on Friday. I'm going on opening day!😀

So what are your thoughts on Carpenter's groundbreaking original classic? I'd say its a god damn masterpiece and has three of the greatest horror characters ever.

Halloween holds so much importance to me. It was one of those early horror films that really opened my eyes to how beautiful and intriguing the genre could be. For some reason, in my head, I always view this film in my head in black and white. I would agree that it is a God damn masterpiece. I doubt I would be as heavily into horror, or film in general even, without Halloween.

The idea of the terror of the suburbs and monotony and blankness that comes with that life was the first of it's kind. No cabin in the woods, no house in the middle of nowhere, just a bunch of distant neighbours wanting to mind their own business.

I will definitely go see the new film as soon as it hits theatres. Probs on my own with a giant popcorn and giant coke slushie.

Yeah really good points. I agree.
Also once you guys have seen the new film why not post some thoughts here. I think it's got a decent chance of being good with Carpenter so heavily involved. Its great to have Jamie Lee Curtis back. Such a big part of Halloween.
 
Well there's one film I won't bother with, thanks for warning us about the upcoming crap.

Absolutely love the original film, one of my favourite horror movies. It genuinely scared the crap out of me when I first watch it. And I'm hella excited for the new film, I think it's going to be amazing, especially since it disregards all the sub-par sequels and brings back Jamie Lee Curtis.

I think your jumping the gun. There are some really talented people involved in this one. Carpenter had a big hand in the story, and we'll be getting some new music from him. Plus the director has a solid CV of indie credits. Having Laurie back is huge too. This doesn't just feel like another Halloween sequel.

Some of the sequels were actually good. 2,4 and H20 probably being the best. But I'm pleased they've deleted the silly plot about Michael and Laurie being adopted brother-sister.

I am going to see the new Halloween tonight. The reviews have been mixed but there's enough good ones to give me hope. I think what's telling is the good ones have tended to come from horror critics who understand and love the genre. The negative ones have come more from the high brow/snobby ones😛
