Celebrities Whose Popularity You Don't Get

The favorite celebrities thread got me thinking. Are their any celebrities whose popularity you don't get or who you don't really like for no apparent reason? I'm not really thinking of the obvious ones like Charlie Sheen or Lindsey Lohan. Just people who you kind of wonder "Why are they so popular?"

When she was younger, she wasn't popular amongst the other kids. So today she's trying to... not trying, is getting attention. Look at how she presents herself. I mean, meat dress? It's obvious that it's the reason she's popular. Because she gets attention for how she looks. She's a gimmick!

For some reason, that I cannot fathom, I don't like Cameron Diaz. But lots of people do.

And Natalie Portman. Lots of people like her, I think I only liked her in V for Vendetta and other than that I'm usually like WHY?!?

Though that could be because my husband thinks she's hot and yes, I'll admit it, I am jealous! So there!

I don't know why but I've never cared for Ryan Reynolds. I just don't get his appeal. Thank goodness he didn't get the part of Xander when he auditioned.

I also don't get Shia LeBoef's popularity, but maybe that's cuz every female friend I have loves him.

I don't have anything against Jen Aniston, but every film I've seen her in was awful to the point where I figure if she's in a film, it will probably be bad.

Brad Pitt is one person I do get. Because he is a phenomenal actor. You only need to look at all the films he's been and recognise the huge diversity in his roles; all pf which are played convincingly, to see why he's so well known. Or did you mean his popularity outside of his acting?

I'm with Kean and I don't get why she's popular either. Personally, I think she makes a mockery of, and exploits, everything she claims to stand for and makes money for herself off of that.

I really don't understand why people like Will Ferrel or Ben Stiller and why their films are so popular. I can't bring myself to watch their films and I genuinely want to punch them both in the face, for no reason in particular.

There's probably a few more people who I don't think deserve their hype but I need thinking time!

Ok, not everyone from a reality show get famour are are inclined to be called a celebrity. So take 99,7% of of those who can fairly be called celebrities.

I kind of wonder if the Kardashians "popularity" is real though. I've never met anyone who liked them. I kind of wonder if they just have a really good pr team and have a lot of connections in Hollywood which gives them press and makes it look like they're more popular than they are.

Angelina Jolie - she stopped being interesting some time after "Gia"

Paris Hilton - she's rich, skinny and she has a small dog... wow yeah, that's really something to bring to the table. Nothing remotely interesting about her so I don't understand the big deal.

Shia LeBoef - .... honestly. I just.dont.get.it.

Ryan Reynolds - sorry I don't see it. Whatever it is that's special about him.

Kristen Stewart is another celebrity with alot of popularity that I don't get. Her acting is horrible in the movies that I've seen with her, especially the Twilight movies where she has no espression whatsoever.

caritas08 agrees: Glad I'm not alone about Shia and Ryan. Can you imagine if Ryan had gotten the part of Xander?

Honestly, I shudder to think... I really love Xander and I fear I wouldn't have had Ryan rather than Nick played him. Obviously I can't say for sure since we'll never know but I just cannot imagine him bringing anything to the role...

I understand that but I don't get is how it is positive attention she is getting. Put any other female singer in that dress and she would be torn apart in the press. Heck, anything she has worn would have meant absolute ridicule for any other singer. I find it baffling.

Even more than that, I don't get how a woman who has such a positive message and tells everyone the world over to just be themselves refuses to let herself shown without costume.

I just find it all very hard to buy into.

Oh, and Zooey Deschanel. Or however you spell her last name. I'm just not a fan. I don't think she's a very good actress and I don't really like any of the movies she's been in. But she is very pretty, so I understand that part. 😛
