Paris Hilton booed off stage at Miami nightclub
Socialite Paris Hilton's attempts to establish her
pop career failed miserably when she was
booed off-stage during an Oct. 2-3 performance
at a Miami nightspot.
Long known for her partying and shopping
exploits, Hilton is keen to have a serious career
since becoming an international name in 2003
when her sex tape with ex-boyfriend Rick
Soloman was leaked on the Internet.
Clubbers were disgusted with The Simple Life
star's rendition of her debut single Screwed,
which according to Britain's The Sun
newspaper, was "lip-synched."
The audience ignored Hilton's cover versions of
David Bowie's Fame and a Blondie track. One
reveller said "Paris quickly left."

Wyclef cryptic about Fugees reunion
Fugees star Wyclef Jean can't understand why
people are making so much fuss about the
reunion of the group -- because they never
officially split up.
The trio haven't recorded together since The
Score was released in 1996, and have spent
the last eight years concentrating on solo
careers.
But, despite the occasional bust-up, the group
has never split. And now fans are hoping a
surprise regrouping at the Sept. 4 New York
Block Party will lead to a full reunion.
"We had a great time. There may be more fun
times. The Fugees have never said we've
broken up or retired. When it feels right, people
will get what they've been waiting for," Wyclef
said.

Beyoncé Suffers Leg Injury While Dancing
Beyoncé tore a leg muscle rehearsing dance
moves with Destiny's Child and her injury could
delay some of the promotional work in support
of the trio's next album, according to a
spokesperson.
The singer tore her right hamstring, one of the
muscles at the back of the knee, while
practicing Tuesday in Los Angeles for an
upcoming TV special. "She overdid it," said
Columbia Records spokesperson Yvette Noel-
Schure.
"We're all keeping our fingers crossed that,
because she's young and healthy, it heals fast.
There are a lot of things in place that we may
have to shift. Not the album, which is finished,
but side [appearances]. We'll know more after a
week," Noel-Schure said.
As previously reported, "Destiny Fulfilled" is due
Nov. 16 via Columbia. First single "Lose My
Breath" rockets 12-7 on the Billboard Hot 100
this week.
Beyoncé was treated by a private sports-injury
specialist. She is able to walk, but was advised
to steer clear of dancing and other strenuous
physical activity for about a week.

Making Banks
Janice Dickinson (The World's First
Supermodel) may think she's the star of
America's Top Model but it's her rival, Tyra
Banks, who's parlayed her Model stardom into
her very own talk show. Banks is developing a
syndicated, Oprah-style show for a fall 2005
debut, according to the trade paper reports.
Banks is expected to target a younger
generation than, say, Winfrey. ''She's really
emerged as a role model for the next
generation of young women,'' Jim Paratore,
president of the company behind the show,
Telepicture Productions, told the Hollywood
Reporter.
The third season of the UPN's America's Top
Model debuted last week, with 14 new models
aspiring to stardom (and facing Dickinson's
insults along the way). The show has led to
numerous Oprah appearances for Banks,
which helped inspire the idea for the talk show.
It remains to be seen, however, if audiences
will go insane when Banks yells, ''Everyone
gets a makeover! Everyone gets a makeover!''

Same-sex ‘Simpsons’
London's Sun newspaper says it knows
which "Simpsons" character is coming out of
the closet this year.
It's not the popularly speculated Smithers; it's
Patty, Marge's hard-up-for-a-man sister.
According to an anonymous source on the
show, Patty will marry another woman after
Springfield decides to allow gay marriage.
Patty's bride-to-be is reportedly a woman she
has known for a long time but who has never
been introduced to viewers.
We do know, however, that Homer plays a big
part in the shenanigans. Producer Al Jean said
in July that Homer would become a minister via
the Internet and preside over a same-sex
ceremony this season.

It’s double trouble
The Olsen twins have taken a break from
hawking McDonald's Happy Meals in France to
take on a fight closer to home: getting rid of
those "Save Mary-Kate" T-shirts.
Randy and Moss, the fashion company that
created the controversial T-shirts, has stopped
selling them after getting an e-mail from the
twins' lawyer threatening to sue for
unauthorized use of the Mary-Kate and Ashley
brand, E! Online reports. The shirts were
created after Mary-Kate entered rehab for an
eating disorder in June.
"We respect Dualstar [the Olsen's empire].
They're a huge company. We're a small
company, " says Melissa Moss, one-half of the
creative force behind the T-shirts, which had
become cult faves.
Oh well, you can always dust off that "Save
Winona" shirt.

Lindsay in love?
Lindsay Lohan doesn't like it when you talk
about her breasts, but apparently she doesn't
mind flaunting them on a magazine cover.
"What are [people] trying to do by saying
I'm 'baring it all?' " Lohan said to GQ magazine,
for which she struck several, um, chest-
enhancing poses in the latest issue. "Go pick
on someone else. It's getting a little old. Like, I
didn't get implants--deal with it!"
Lohan also said things are getting more intense
with her boyfriend, "That '70s Show" actor
Wilmer Valderrama.
"I can be kind of negative, sometimes, with the
whole boyfriend situation," she said. "I get very
insecure. Just because there are a lot of girls
who like him."
How sweet. Lindsay's, like, in love.

Move over, Monica
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have tried and
failed at many an occupation, but in the third
season of "The Simple Life," they may finally
find their true calling--as interns.
Now, if only Fox producers can find some
congressman or senator willing to cooperate.
So far, the folks on Capitol Hill have given them
a big veto, according to the New York Daily
News.
Producers have offered up Paris and Nicole as
aides to Republican House Speaker Dennis
Hastert and Sen. Rick Santorum, a
conservative Republican from Pennsylvania.
Hastert's spokesman told the Daily News, "I
asked the speaker about it, and he didn't think it
was such a good idea."
Says Santorum's rep: The senator "has a policy
of hiring only native Pennsylvanians to interns.
[Paris] grew up living in the swanky Waldorf-
Astoria in New York City, and although we have
several Hilton hotels in Pennsylvania, we don't
have any Waldorfs! Sorry, Paris."

Keys to his heart?
Does Alicia Keys have something cooking with
Lenny Kravitz?
The pair was seen dining together at New
York's trendy Japanese eatery Megu before
heading to a nearby night spot, according to

known as a romancer of the celebrity set--he
was recently voted Hollywood's biggest
heartbreaker by readers of In Touch Weekly.
Keys recently performed Stevie
Wonder's "Higher Ground" with Wonder and

Miami. Kravitz also dropped to his knees to
show his admiration when Keys won her
moonman for best R&B video for "If I Ain't Got
You."
A Megu employee confirmed to RedEye on
Thursday that Keys is a frequent visitor there
but deferred questions about the pair to the
restaurant's publicist, who could not be reached
for comment.
