I'm looking to buy a new phone and plan, so I was wondering if anyone had any good (or bad) experiences? Also any suggestions about good phones - will a free one that comes with my plan be adequate? I'm not looking to spend a lot - maybe about $40 a month.

🙂

My sprint phone is pretty good i only have to pay 50 bucks a month for 1000 day time minutes and unlimited nights and weekends startin at 7 but i think i got mine on a limited time deal...i think that deals over now.. but sprint normally sucks so i wouldn't go for it lol

I think a 39.99 deal would be good, especially if you don't need that many minutes. However, you probably won't get unlimited night and weekends with it. As for phones, you can usually get a good phone free if you sign a two-year contract, but I've always preferred to shell out 100 bucks and just sign a one-year contract to purchase a really good phone. I've had really good experiences with my Sony-Ericsson. And about the service you purchase, Verizon seems to have the best service and customer satisfacton. Personally, I have Cingular, but they seem to be going a bit crazy with the mergers; and the service hasn't been all that great lately. But hopefully that will change soon.

Hmm, well, I'm currently on my mom's plan with Verizon( yay Verizon!), which we've had for EVER and it's 29.99 a month for three phones. We have 400 anytime minutes shared between the three of us free nights and weekends and free calls between the three phones. It's pretty awesome, especially considering that I don't have to pay any of it 😉. Anyway, my boyfriend had Sprint for a long time and he hated it, it was 50 bucks a month for 1000 minutes, no free nights or weekends, and crappy customer service, but he's on cingular now, and seems to like that. He got a free phone, free nights and weekends, pretty basic, but servicable for 30 bucks a month. So I'd recommend Verizon or Cingular.

I would recommend getting a plan with a company where you can call or be called for free by someone who has the same service as you. Verizon in a good example.

The problem that I'm having.. (I have a nextel), is that I'm getting charged to talk to my family, and we all have the same provider. It makes sense to go with a plan where it will benefit your talking styles.

I have US Cellular and get 1100 anytime minutes and free nights , long distance and weekends. It runs me about 50.00 a month, not too bad since my son is on the same plan with his own phone (we share minutes). Good luck on the search, I think each cellular phone company has great packages, it just depends on what you are looking for.

Whatever you do, don't get a TracFone! They stink! I never get a text message on time. On time someone sent me one in the morning like 7:45 and I didn't get it til 11:50 at night. And it disconnects me like all the time. I was so mad when my dad got a new phone and didn't add a new line for me.

I've had verizon for 4 1/2 years and I never have problems. I just got the LG VX6100 which is a kick ass phone. I got it free since I always get 2 year contracts and at the end of the two years they give you $100 credit toward a new phone.

I'm not sure what deals they're running now though....I get a special discount on the plan though because my company has a deal with Verizon...
