Hi, name a character that you like or love but that most other fans seem to not like. also, name seasons, and story lines, and arcs that are mostly considered unpopular but that you found enjoyable. I'm just wanting the view of the minority i guess, whats it like to love what so many often criticize. look forward to your answers. 🙂

From "Angel," Season 5, the old Mexican wrestler, Numero Cinco (if I spelled it correctly). I've always loved stories about old warriors who suit up for one last battle, even when they know that doing so will almost certainly mean their deaths. Beowulf's last battle with the dragon and Jim Bowie at the Alamo have always been favorite stories of heroism for me, and that's how I saw "Number Five's" story.

As for the Season and story line, Season 7, and Spike's entire story from "School Hard" to "Not Fade Away," or, if that isn't specific enough, Spike's story from the time that he left Sunnydale in Season 6 to his final scene in "Chosen." (I don't think that "most" fans dislike that story line, but it seems to drive some of the ones who do hate it into early stages of outrage and apoplexy)

I don't think there's a character I like that most people hate. There's characters that I don't mind that people hate. Instead of a season that I like that most people hate, I have a season that I don't like that most people love. For me, it's S5, I find it very down and boring overall.

Oh I guess Andrew. I do like Andrew but he's not anywhere near my favorite character.

Dawn. Although these days (around here) I don't hear too much by way of criticism about her. Actually, a lot of people seem to like her or at least don't dislike her, so maybe this once obvious choice doesn't count any more.

Riley. These rewatches are making me see him in a new light. I'm warming up to Blucas' acting performance even. I think I like him. I think so.

I want to even say the initiative arc, but some serious S4 scrutiny during a rewatch is in order before I even go there on BB. Part of me wants to give it a little love though. We'll see.

For me, I love Riley, and like Dawn and Conner. I also like Andrew too. And I liked Wesley from his first episode of Buffy season 3 (Bad Girls). So, I am a minority it seems 😛 I also liked the initiative arc, just not so much with Adam(though I do like him some) and I love season 6,my second favorite of the series. Might be some others...ill get back to ya 😉

that's quite a list! Oooh, I forgot about Connor, I like him too!
Connor. And I like his story-arc (though admittedly sometimes they pushed the sullen teen thing to its edge). I just want so desperately for someone to understand him and take care of him and help him be who he could have been.

I also like Kate. She was grating at times but the more I think of it the more it disappoints me that she was written off the show because I think she had great potential to be an ally to Angel and I would have wanted to see a relationship between her and Cordelia evolve (as in a friendship).

Connor. I think that, after Kennedy, he is the most hated, instead I love him. If Angel is my favorite character in both shows, in ATS Connor is definitely my second favorite character. I love everything about him.

On the contrary, and I know this will be very unpopular to say, there is a character universally loved by all the fans, but I just can't nor understand her, nor to love her. I'm talking about Cordelia. Although... slowly, very slowly, now I'm seeing things that I had not seen before, but still I don't like her.

I only one I can think of is Dawn. I liked her from her very first epidsode, I thought she was an inspired idea. I loved her in S5, felt sorry for her (when she wasn't being all needy) in S6, and respected the hell out of the woman she'd become in S7.

I even liked what she brought out in other characters.

She brought out Buffy's maturity and nuturing instincts, completing Buffy's journey from child to adult. Dawn humanised unsouled Spike more than any other character, and I loved how she interacted with both Willow and Tara.

Plus MT was a self-confessed huge Buffy fan before her addition to the show, and probably one of the more underrated actors on it. She's great. 🙂

well said
Most of my very liked characters are quite hated. The main ones probably being Dawn, Kate and Kennedy. I think all three of those characters are very compelling.

I like Dawn and thought she nailed the part of the teenage girl very convincingly. You never go the feeling that she was playing a part.

I like Kennedy who was the only potential who wanted to be a slayer. At the point where she hooked up with Willow, she was exactly what Willow needed in "The Killer in Me 7ABB13". She was the only one who could break Amy's spell:

WILLOW/WARREN*
You tricked me. Got me to forget.

KENNEDY
Tara....

WILLOW/WARREN*
Shut up!

WILLOW*/WARREN
(crying) Shut up! You do not get to say her name. Offering it up to whoever's there. Tricking me into kissing you. (looking lost) I didn't"”I didn't mean... what I'm saying, I"”I can't make"” (pleading) Kennedy, I can't hold on... he's winning.

KENNEDY
(takes a step toward Willow/Warren) No...

WILLOW*/WARREN
I'm being punished. I k"”I kissed you just"”just for a second, but it was enough. I let her go. I didn't mean to.

KENNEDY
Kissing me didn't mean th"”

WILLOW*/WARREN
No, she was never gone. She was with me. We should have been forever, and I"” (cries) I let her be dead. She's really dead. (breaks down into tears) And I killed her. (falls to the ground sobbing)

I quite liked Dracula, from Buffy vs. Dracula, but I've heard a lot of negativity about his performance from Buffy fans.
Things along the lines like 'he's one of the worst Dracula's I've ever seen.'

The two points I'd make- go and see Van Helsing and Dracula 2000, and you'll see two truly terrible Dracula performances on the big screen. Really cringe-worthy.

Secondly, remember that it could've been Freddie Prinze Jr in the Dracula role, like Sarah wanted...😱

No...just No. 🙁

I'll admit that I like him even more in the comics though, he's grown into a really interesting vampire character.

I also liked Dracula!

No...just No. 🙁

Whaaaat? No way, lol, cannot imagine Freddie Prinze Jr in that part without it being like super silly! Oh Sarah, I guess love makes you do the wacky! 😛

Yep, fortunately for all he was busy at the time. *Phew* 'Wackiness' avoided!
Connor, Lindsey, Dawn, Riley, Kennedy.

Right now, Buffy Summers seems like one of those characters that I like, but everyone seems to hate.

I know exactly what you mean. But I like Buffy too!

The more I watch the show the more I hate Tara and the less I hate Kennedy. I do not like her *yet* but you know what, I kinda tolerate her already.

Many fans seem to hate Riley, but I think he's a nice really nice guy, actually. He has some problems, but overall, I was quite sad to see him go in Season 5. Xander's speech almost makes makes me tear up. Almost 😉

P.S. This is my 1,500th post!! Yay! 🙂

Both Angel as Twilight and Dark Willow. I guess, I have a penchant for darkness and megalomania, when it is wrapped around pain... (If you are into older generation rpgs I also have weakness for the Nameless One and Jon Irenicus, so yeah. )

I couldn't think of a character that fit the bill here but I totally agree with Lyri. Obviously Buffy isn't a hated character in the general sense but I feel there's quite a lot of negativity around the board towards her. So yeah I love Buffy. She's probably my favourite character in the verse. She's not perfect but I pretty much always get where she's coming from. She always tries to protect people and make things better. She has a massive heart and I love her humour as well. Go Buffy!

I'd go Dawn, Kennedy, and Adam.

I never had anything against Dawn and I think Michelle does a wonderful job portraying her. As others have noted, it's like she's not even acting. I loved her plot as the key, S5 had one of the best arcs IMO. So gripping!

As for Kennedy, I secretly like her (well, not so secretly anymore) for the same reasons a few of you other guys do. She's one of the only potentials to actually take their job as a...err...potential slayer seriously. She's got attitude, so what? At least she has personality, unlike most of the other girls.

And Adam, I thought, was an interesting villain, despite others throwing the word "boring" at him. It doesn't help he's sandwiched between two eccentric Big Bads in The Mayor and Glory. I liked his role, and thought the idea of a bio-mechanical demonoid was pretty cool. He had this sort of boyish innocence about him, but was also very sadistic. I wish he got more episodes than he did to flesh out his character a bit more.

agree on Dawn and Adam, Adam doesnt get enough credit for being an interesting character :)
