Charisma Carpenter Auditioned for Paige Matthews

Okay I just found out that Charisma Carpenter was one of the 10 actresses to audition for the role of Paige Matthews replacing Shannen Doherty in "Charmed" starting with season 4.

So if Charisma had gotten the role over Rose McGowan, how would she had been able to play Paige on "Charmed" AND Cordelia on "Angel"?

Now the auditions for Paige took place during the summer of 2001, and Angel Season 3 was finishing at the time.

So again my question how would Charisma would have done Charmed and Angel at the same time?

Simple answer is- she wouldn't have. Since the character of Paige is a full-time character, Charisma would have been on set anywhere up to 15 hours a day for during of filming an episode (let's say 7-10 days). I'd say the filming for Angel would take roughly the same time and Cordelia was a full-time character too. Totally not feasible for her to be on both shows. Basically, she would have canned Cordelia and gone for Paige. Or, decided to stick with Cordelia.
We'll never know - personally, totally glad she stayed on Angel.

I don't like "Charmed" at all, so I am glad she didn't get the part. I would have felt inclined to watch the show to support Charisma and that would have been so boring for me.

Now that would have upped the cool factor on Charmed if Eliza had joined it. I think it would have taken a completely different direction.
As it is, I'm not a big Charmed fan- I used to like it when I was little but as I grew up, got into Buffy, and the show seemed to (in my opinion anyway) lose the plot a little, I found the show a bit random and silly and besides loving when Finola Hughes turned up I soon lost interest. But if Eliza or Charisma had played Paige and caused a sort of Buffy draw in the show....maybe I wouldn't have lost interest?

I don't care for Charmed either. I feel like it ripped off a few other shows as well as a movie but I won't mention any titles. BUT I'm glad Charisma stayed on Angel even though I didn't like what was done with her character is S4.

Awww, I'm actually embarassed to admit this, but I have a bit of a soft spot for Charmed. I guess because I grew up watching it. Only seasons 1-5 though, the later seasons sucked.

I'm glad Charisma didn't get the part of Paige. One, because I much prefer her as Cordy. And two, Paige is suppose to be the youngest sister, so unless they changed that I don't think it would have really fit. Eliza would have been kinda cool though.

If either one of them had played Paige instead of the totally irritating Rose McGowan, I might have actually enjoyed the last few seasons a bit. Sorry if anybody here likes her. I don't mind her in some of her movies like Planet Terror, but she really bugs me on Charmed.

It would sort of be awkward since she had appeared as a seer before on Charmed. It would be like when Harry Morgan played Col. Sherman Potter on M*A*S*H after he had played a completely different character for one episode.

Let's not forget, Charisma auditioned for the part of Buffy originally. It would have been a totally different show with her in the lead role.

Well I'm glad neither Charisma or Eliza got that job!
A - I prefer Charisma as Cordy and I just cannot imagine her as Paige
B - Eliza... hm... thinking about it it might not have been awful. I'm torn.. I can't see her fit in, she lacks the 'softness' that Rose has IMO.
C - I like Rose McGowan as Paige. I was disappointed when I heard the news but she won me over when I saw her on the show. (and [MENTION=8277]ItMustBeBunnies[/MENTION] I don't think anything could have made anyone enjoy the last seasons of Charmed 😉 They just fell hard during those...)
