ok, i officially think that is the longest, fullest thread i have ever taken time to read. thank you *bows*. now, to MY comments:

if we would have gotten full episodes of every character's history in the very beginning of the series, there would be no where for them to develop too...which is why it didnt happen that way.....the BtVS writers are actually talented and stuff

Not all buffy fans hate charmed, think it is "poorly done, second rate, cheap rip-off of Buffy" or refuse to watch the show. most of us have a strong basis of fairness in a debate between the two shows, and from what ive seen, a majority of btvs fans have watched all of charmed. and we don't all drink. This is the most stupid thing I have ever read on this forum. It truly shows your lack of a cognitive ability

everyone has there opinions on the matter.some people think charmed is a buffy rip-off, some people think its not. Yes, Buffy has better episodes. Yes, Brad did a poor job continuing the show, as he has a lack of continuity. And yes, There was absolutely no point in starting a thread like this...here of all places. But the bottom line is...chick-fil-a gives free ice cream if you trade in the toy from the kids meal. Okay, so that's not the bottom line....but its a nice thought.

The more I think about it, I have to admit that I may have given the wrong title for this thread. Charmed is not "better" than Buffy, but it is more enjoyable.

The reason is because Charmed is more simplistic and easier to understand. Now sadly there are folks that will take this reasoning and use it against me saying that folks that watch Charmed are right with Forrest Gump in smarts, but that's not the case.
If you want to think that way, I won't stop you, but it's not right.

I doubt people like Alyssa and Holly would associate themselves with poor shows for eight whole years (and help produce them for about four years!).

JUst because a show is deeper it doesn't make it better.

I've always said Charmed is simplier and as long as you are aware of that its fine to enjoy it for that. Hell I like Mile High because its mindless stupidity. However if people start thinking Charmed is the pinnacle of television than thats something else. It had its moments, but all in all Charmed is mindless fun.

JUst because a show is deeper it doesn't make it better.

If you think about it though Deeper shows are better, Charmed was never great, it was never as big as Buffy, people don't follow it the same way they follow Buffy or Angel or Lost, People love when a show is deep cusp it involves the viewer, it makes you think. Charmed doesn't do that, you just watch it and never have to think about it again.

Also people look for deepness in a show like Charmed, It goes into the same group as Buffy, Angel, Supernatural, Point Pleasant, Lost and Tru Calling; Each of these develops a mythology and keeps it - because they are in a fake world they have to give you background information. Charmed seems to ignore the need for background information, changing it to suit the particular episode - This makes it easier to watch if you miss an episode. if that's what you mean by enjoyable?

Also there's allot more to make Charmed less enjoyable The poor dialog, the constantly repeated storylines, the cheesy special effects and the terrible bad guys!

Also it's completely pointless to keep trying to convince us that charmed is better or more enjoyable or more entertaining or whatever. You are talking to a group of Buffy/Angel fans who look for that deepness in their programs, We like the dialog and the individual storylines that haven't been used over and over again!

oh and it's not like Holly and Alyssa are these huge name actresses who have huge movie deals flying at them. They would stay on the show for the money!

Ok, I missed this entire arguement but I have one thing to add.

The issue of backstory for Willow and Xander?
We know Willows parents arent around much. We know who her mum is, her name and what she does and we know she doesnt pay much attention to her daughter. We know her dads not around much. We know his name. We know they are Jewish.
We know Willow has always been a good girl. Never been grounded. Never got in trouble and always got good grades.

We know Xanders parents drink a lot (or at least his dad does) We know they argue all the time. We know Xander sleeps outside every Xmas to avoid the fights. Weve seen prretty much the entire family at Xanders wedding. We know what they are like and how they think.

We know Xander and Willow were a couple til Xander stole Willows Barbie. They were 5.
When the show started, they were 16 years old. HOw much more backstory could you need?

I thought we agreed on the fact that the argument alone was a lame one considering the environment. We're going to think Buffy is better, because this is Buffy-Boards.

Haven't you lot realised yet that this isn't about his opinion of the show, this kid is probably sat at home trying to think of new ways to start a Buffy vs Charmed argument because he likes attention....he's probably whacking one off right now reading.

We've given this joker alot of time and patience, but honestly, i think its time we all move on passed him...let him have his thoughts, don't fall for the bait and let him have his own fun.

Trust me, the only other reason for his comments is that he actually believes what he is saying, and that makes him 'Deficient' anyway so its pointless arguing with him.
