This is addressed to Buffy fans who are also Charmed fans
I an watching both shows(again) on DVD all the way through, alternating episodes. Currently finishing BuffyS4, and Charmed S5.
Like to look at differences and similarities between the major characters.
Buffy and other Slayers were called to be Slayers, but had to be trained to fight. The Charmed witches were born with magical powers which had to be activated.
Could be a real advantage in fighting a demon. Piper would just blow it up. Buffy had to go hand to hand.
Magical knowledge in Buffy was contained in a huge library. The Charmed Ones had it all in the Book of Shadows, handed down from past generations of witches.
And have to say the Whitelighters were more useful than Watchers, like with their healing powers. Leo or someone would simply have restored Xander's eye he lost to Caleb. The only thing they can't reverse is death.
On the other hand, the Council and the Elders could both be heavyhanded and arbitrary with their charges.
Also, Willow could have used some guidance from other witches, like the Halliwell clan. She got in a lot of trouble by misuse of magic, for personal gain, or for revenge. Several Charmed eps had this theme where the sisters had to face the consequences of violating this Wiccan rule. One of the darkest was when Phoebe was almost burned at the stake in a future reality, and one of the most hilarious was when a spell of Paige's backfired and left her with a pair of humongous breasts!
An idea I have is how about Buffy and friends and the Halliwell sisters teaming up to fight a monstrous evil. Imagine what that would have been like, if they were together taking on the First.
