Question Chat rooms

Those of you that know me know I'm pretty much addicted to the BB chat! So I'm interested in what people think of chats, do you use them, or not. If not is it because you've tried them and not enjoyed it or had a bad experience? Those that have what is it that keeps you going back?

For me it's the people and how easy it is to get to know people better quickly, the wide range of topics that can be discussed amongst people.

I only joined three online communities in my life, the first one about Harry Potter and it had a chat that I used, the second one was about The Sims 🙂p) had no chat and now BB!

I also think that chats are great because you get to know people more, but I don't ever go in general chat. I go only if I'm already part of a community like here on BB. 🙂

I used to be on the chat a lot a few years ago when there was a different crowd of people here, that unfortunately aren't anymore. Plus I had a lot more time on my hands then. 😛 I tend to be too busy these days to properly socialise online like I used to.

I don't use chat things online. I'm not particularly sociable so unless I know the people rather well I don't bother.

buffy chat is the only chat room I've been a part of. I do love it though - and it's really helped me get to know members here - I think. 🙂

I've basically given up trying to be involved in chats.

Tried it a bunch of times, here and other places, but I have now accepted that I suck at being social and quick.

It's just way to fast for me. It take ages for me to figure out what to say, if I manage to come up with anything at all, and by then the subject have changed like five times...

Back when we set up buffyuk.org in 1999 there was a whole load of us chatting in IRC all the time. Once I left that I did trivia IRC channels and got to know a fair few people from those. I hadn't used any chat for years until joining BB, where I usually come in say hi, ask people questions and then life gets in the way and I have to go again. I used to love chats. but i kinda got tired of them and forgot to go. I used to go on the chat like every single day for a while.

I have used chats off and on...mostly the BB Chatty in it's many incarnations. I'm in there right now with the deadly nightshade **waves**.

There will be times I won't use chat because there are usually no people........not even nightshade sometimes....who's ALWAYS in there (xD).

Or if I do go, I'll go AFK. It's a bad habit of mine.

I used to be a BIG chat room person. However, these days the BB chat room is the only one I use, but I haven't been in there in a while due to my PC being down. Can't wait to have Icechat back!

I don't use chat rooms all that often. I like the idea of the but in reality I've never particularly enjoyed them.

I go into the BB chat on occasion, but it's difficult for me to get really involved in the chat going on because I easily get distracted by other things on the Internet and the convo moves quickly enough that I miss things.

I am involved with 3 or 4 chats including this one... I usually only go into 1 or 2 at a time. For example, my BBUSA one only during the season... and the soul calibur one during tournaments or at new releases. This BB one I seem to have highs and lulls going in 🙂

I just don't enjoy chat rooms. I've tried the BB chat a several occasions, and everyone has been utterly lovely to me, but I just can't get into it. I rarely keep up, and more often than not there is a bunch of people who know each other really well and it's hard to get involved in that. I much prefer emails or PMs, or other things of that nature. Though I do acknowledge that it is one of the best ways to get to know someone. Lyri and I have basically been talking all day every day in some form of chat since 2007 lol.

Some years ago I tried it here on bb and it can be a lot of fun. The idea is great and from my little experience most people are nice. So if you haven't tried it I strongly suggest that you do. Unfortunately it's not for me. I'm too slow and lack the concentration it requires of me.

The only chat room I've ever been in the BB chat and that's still the only one I go in. (And its off-shoots.) I have fun in there and have made a lot of new friends. I love hearing from people in different parts of the world, too. I'm almost fluent in British English! 😛
