Hi peoples


We had some nasty issues in chat tonight I was wondering what we should do in future when things like this happen?

We definitely need more mods in the IRC channel.

As a sidenote, everyone didn't have to leave the entire chat. D: There isn't anything "weird" going on.

Like i said I feel we need IRC moderators who are in there quite a bit so it can be dealt with there and then. Moderators on the boards usually don't have all that much time to get in chat I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong. A set of members who the staff feel can be trusted who use the IRC should be selected. Obviously I don't know if this is at all plausible but if it is I feel if it was put in place should another time like tonight happen it could be avoided straight away.

Since I have no idea what happened I can´t say much but to make sure the mods take part of the log from the situation must be a start at least.

I agree that we need more mods in the IRC to handle a situation like that should it ever arise again. I agree with Moz and Lurker...we do know how to conduct ourselves in an everyday sort of situation, but that was extreme and perhaps having everyone running around to grab a board moderator's attention to the situation isn't ideal for something so instantaneous as what the IRC is.

Most of them seem to have cleared out now so even the main channel is quiet again. 😉

Edit: For those of who don't know what happened, a bunch of people from another Buffy forum joined the IRC channel. At first they just tried to get everyone to join their boards but it quickly turned into random spamming and cussing so we had to take refuge on another channel. 😛

yes i agree, i was one who panniced and contacted the mods... tonight just made me feel sick to the stomach 🙁

I advise leaving chat and letting mods deal with it, then taking your turf back without a fight.

You can't get through to ornery cusses, who are not looking for dialog so much as victims, so why bother?

I know, "It's the principal of it all." But don't set yourself up for pointless bother and hurt.

Just walk away and let the 'bad decision' elimination factor play itself out.

My humble advise, heed it at your own risk. (but in this instance I do think it makes sense; speaking from past experience.)

Well usually there is 1 mod on the site at all times (Usually) so you can come to a mod, Now Nix came to me tonight, but I'd been away for awhile and have only just registered and got everything set up now! So apologies for not being able to help out!

We will be discussing this between the mods to see what we can do to keep control on a situations like that, should they come up again!

Yeah, I know it's irritating, but it's kind of a like a tick investation problem. If you're not prepared for it, you have to make sure you have all the preparations in order, so you can get them all with one go.

Like I said, be patient.

All I can say is those people better be glad I don't know who they are. I don't know exactly what happened, but nobody messes with my BB friends. Jerks. They are bringing out the angry mommy gene in me.

Uggghhh this is so infuriating, Im feelin all protect my friends and my turf right now. Everybody on this board are friendly folk and I would think that if anybody from another forum wondered onto our chat we would be welcoming and perfectly willing to talk to them, which I imagine was the case when they first rocked up. All I can think right now is HOW DARE THEY!, nobody attacks my friends and gets away with it!. I hope the problem is soon rectified.

People from another board came and attacked some of our members?

I am the prick (occasionally) of this board, I don't take kindly to losers coming and attacking our community, even members of it I don't like.

They come again - call me. I'll have a cutting remark and a witty retort ready for these slimeballs!!!

So yeah, it was people from Slay Alive - what can you expect from a board who doesn't come up with any ideas of their own, just copies ours instead?

In a situation like that, you should definitely first bring it to a mods attention. Posting about it in here is fine and will get any of us who are on's notice. Then we'll ban the offenders from the chat. I'll talk with the staff about the idea of having "chat mods".

Other than that, try to ignore them as best as you can until we can ban them from the chat. If it comes onto the board, just use the report post button so we can clean up the spam.
