ok, is it just the UK who has chavs/charvas.....
burbery.... earings you could go fishing with to catch a whale....
bleached hair with so much hair spray the o zone layer should have gone by now...babys by the age of 10...
what is the perpous of them....
i totlay lost it with 5 of them yesterday kicked them out of where i work, the hole place heard me.... ( couldnt be assed with them....head cold thing...)

anyone else have issue with these..... what type of chavs do you have ???

Agh my town is full of them!! I can't stand it.
A few weeks ago somebody said i was close to being a chav, i was not impressed. I am no where near a chav and i don't even associate myself with them, i would rather be myself than be put into a group.

There was a girl on the bus who had her jeans tucked into her socks, it looked stupid.
 
OK, I think you get chavs everywhere, not just in England, but this does seem to be their country of origin.
 
Yes, Chavs are a british export, but do seem to be slowly colonizing the world, though under different monikers i would assume, as alot of 'foreigners' don't know what Chavs are.
I would also like to throw my hat in the 'Chavs....ewww' grouping, and i have constant close contact with some, for my dirty little secret...my Brothers are Chav orientated. I have never ever ever seen as much Burberry, so many different styles of the same 'Reebok' tracksuit bottoms or a larger collection of baseball caps.
Its hideous.

I do that! Hippie style jeans (so long that they're all wet and ew) is not my style and just super cliché where I come from. You should see some of the things I've posted (in my LJ) about the way you crazy brits dress 😀

See, this is what I like about the internet, you meet people who would normally dislike you after taking one look at you 😉
 
It's so weired the 'Chavs' of Ireland have taken to wearing their pajamas around Dublin, Usually it's the younger ones of about 11/12/13 but they actually walk around in pajamas bottoms, I saw two today!
 
iv seen that tooo a chav walkingaround in pj bottoms !!!!!! whats up with it ???? its like ok... chv with burbuery... chav with baby.... chav in PJs.... second look.... oooook......
 
there scum basicaly, drugys and vandolists ( never met a nice chav)

My brother seems to be becoming one. Worse since he moved down to Essex. I thought there was hope for him when he was 18 but that all changed.

However my brother just looks like one. He doesnt act so much like one thankfully.

my little sis is like one some times..... the talk ect... wares similar clothing, but i think iv got the influence on her to stop her from fully turning... or the fact me on me other sis take the mick out of her when she talks like one hahahah 🙂

Jerry Springer is like the modern day equivalent of the freak show, right? A daily dose of televised humiliation and working-class mockery/loathing. But it's been beyond self-parody for years. It's not precisely comparable, but "white trash" is still basically an offensive term in the States. Some folks have started to proudly embrace the term "redneck".

Where exactly does "chav" sit on the offensive meter? Or is it becoming ironic/cool in some circles...

Ok so now I know what it means thanks for the links to definitions guys. If any Aussie is wondering what it means it translates to one of the skanks or scruts. Well I know this real bitca who I would count as a chav or whatever she used to be my friend but she's such a selfish cow and the way she dressed Paris Hilton would cover her eyes
