In 7.16 in the dreamsequence of Andrew and Jonathan in Mexico, you can see flashes of the cheeseguy and a plate of cheese, is this the First in it's true form!
 
Could it be that easy? ... I don't think so ... why would he then not dream just of the cheese, why did there have to be the cheese guy???
 
The cheese guy was in the episode restless (i think). the last one in series 4!?! Im not sure but i think your right he could be the firsts true form. (not likely though.)
 
He was in all the four dreams of the Scoobies in Restless and he was in the dream of Andrew and Jonathan in "Storyteller" when they are in mexico, he just flashes by hard to see!
 
i didn't notice the cheeseguy... but maybe I was too engrossed in the rest of the stuff going on to notice.

I was able to extract an image of cheese guy from Andrew's dream sequence. He's so creepy. That'd be messed up if he is the First's true form.

Doesn't it seem like, as BTVS approaches the end of it's run, they're starting to embed more hidden references in the background.

There's the cheese guy in this episode, the Snyder on the headstone thing, and in First Date the vampire from the beginning of The Gift appears in a flash at the beginning of the fight scene in the alley.

Do these things have significance, or are the people at ME just having some fun before Buffy ends?
 
I'm inclined to think it's an internal joke at ME. I read somewhere that in "Restless" it had to do with some of the "cheesy" special effects they had to use to stay within budget...
 
I don't think that the Cheese Guy is the first in his true form. I read somewhere in a Joss Whedon interview that the Cheese Guy had no real relevance to the story of Buffy. But I did notice him, and it put a little smile on my face. Whenever I eat cheese now, I wiggle it in front of people's faces like he did to Buffy in "Restless"...
 
The Cheese guy is the First!!! How great is that?? I really hope that he is the first, and that when he comes in his true form, the scoobies are all like "hey! that's the cheese guy!" It would be funny if the cheese was his ultimate weapon. He's going to destroy humanity with CHEESE!!!!!!! sorry if I sound a bit crazy right now, I've been working with wild 7th and 8th grade kids everyday for around 3-5 hours a night since last thursday. I'm starting to lose my mind.
