An exclusive sneak peek at the cover of Buffy's final graphic novel

Dark Horse Comics has provided us with an exclusive first look at Jo Chen's cover of the last Buffy The Vampire Slayer trade paperback. In Volume 8, it's Buffy and company versus the apocalypse.

You can find more from artist Jo Chen and Buffy co-writer Scott Allie in Dark Horse's upcoming Liz Sherman-centric tale B.P.R.D.: The Dead Remembered and in the penultimate issue of Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 8 (which hits stores Thursday).

Best part about the cover is Xander appearing in it. 😀

I think Buffy is staring at someone with resolve, she's wearing a take no shit from anyone expression. Spike is looking at Buffy with admiration, Xander is looking somewhere else -maybe Dawn because Buffy isn't the center of his attention anymore, Giles is looking at Buffy with a mixture of guilt and regret like he's about to do something she doesn't like again, and Angel is looking at the person Buffy is looking at.

I do love how Xander and Spike are paired together = cheerleaders of free will. And Giles and Angel are paired together = cheerleaders of destiny and prophecies.

I don't know, to me it looks like Xander's looking at Angel. Longingly. I'm sad it's only Buffy and the men in her life, though 🙁 Buffy's outfit looks very un-Buffy to me. She looks a little like Business Barbie or something.

I'm not going to say anything about Chen's art quality because we all know that is fabulous 🙂

Seems to be mostly Buffy and the most important men in her life.

I won't say Xander is looking at Angel and if he does I won't describe it as longingly. The way he's sucking his lips inside makes him searching for someone. And clearly not interested in the situation at hand.

If there's one constant highlight of Season 8, its been Jo Chen's utterly gorgeous art.

For some reason I think she's looking at Willow. Only because the brightness towards the bottom middle of the cover seems magical in some way.

It looks like the glowing egg which for some reason I can't remember what its called lmao. But the glow looks like it could be from that. I hope its not willow 🙁
