Childhood scaretimes?

Probably when i almost died. I was 7 (i think) and me and my family were at the beach. And i don't know how i got there but suddently i was reaaaaaaally way from the sand. Hopefully I had swimming classes so i didn't drown... I could see my parents searching for me but they couldn't see me well because i was really far away. But my dad saw me (^^) and then he rescued me 😀 yay. But it was really awful... I know i was only 7 but i can still remember that I was thinking i was going to die, that i tryed to swim but i couldn't, ... I really thought it was the END for me ... 🙁

i used to be scared of my birthday as i thought since you were born on that day, you would have to die on the same day in which ever year you died.

ok Iam and still scared of closets and what monsters lives in them and IT and Talking Tina .

The Tommy Knockers and any kind of doll lol The film called The witches its a book by Roald Dahl the bit with the wee girl in the painting always terrified me 🙁 x

My biggest fear to this day is lizards. Even itty bity ones, I HATE them, I have a hard time even walking past one. i would honestly rather lay in a tub and be covered with cockroaches than have a lizard anywhere near me. And it extends to iguanas and dinasours, its the reason I've never seen Jurassic Park, lol. I think it may be because my mom has lizard fear, although nowhere near as extreme as mine. She told me that while she was pregnant with me someone sneaked up behind her holding a lizard and scared her with it, so maybe it trasnsfered into the womb or something.

As a kid I was always kinda scared of my toys (I had tons of stuffed animals and dolls) I had this feeling that when I wasn't there or I was sleeping they'd all get up and move around and I swear more than once I'd make sure I'd left them exactly one way and when I got back they wouldn't be where I left them, they'd be in another spot....

Also used to have recurring dreams where I'd be in my room with my mom, for example, and I'd get up to go get a drink of water my mom still in my room and when I got to the kitchen my mom would be there like cooking or something and this feeling of dread would come over me that there were two of her and one must be evil.... weird huh...

When I was little I had a nightmare, that my family turned into mooses... (I was little! And mooses were scary) They would chase me around with whipped cream on their antlers

I was 8 and we had the Expo '88 thing here in Brisbane. We went to the Fijitsu exhibit, where we watched a 3-D movie. The things coming out at me scared me so much, I had my eyes covered for 3/4 of it. Even now I will not see any of that - even though I am 28.

When i was a kid, like maybe 3 or 4, there used to be these guys in town that dressed up and move like robots, white suits and masks. Sorta like buskers, y'know, expecting doe for their efforts. But they used to scare the shit outta me, my dad always tried to get me to go up and give them money, and i was burstin into tears ''no way im not goin near that''. Thought they were real, evil lookin robots.

Also, in the Thriller video when Wacko Jacko changed into a werewolf terrified me. Mind you, again i was only 3, but still.
And also in i think either Superman 2 or 3 when that woman gets strapped into a wall and turned into a robot scared the living daylights out of me too.
haahahahahahahaa.

And how, Slick Willie, do you feel about STYX Mr. Roboto? I see a pattern.

Ack. When I was a little kid, I was TERRIFIED of vampires! (imagine that, LOL!) I had to have my bed positioned in such a way that I could see both windows AND the door... and every night, I'd pull the covers up around my neck - TIGHT! - it's a wonder I could breathe at all! - Funny.... guess I got over it, cause now I LOVE vampires... Hubba-Hubba...

I also had a terrible fear of cemetaries after I saw (the original) Night of the Living Dead. And wouldn't you know it? There was a cemetary just outside my bedroom window of my very first apartment... I was 28 years old then, & it STILL gave me goose bumps! - I had HEAVY DUTY curtains on those windows so I could NEVER see out, & NOTHING could EVER see in! E-gads... 😉

OH! - and the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz... eeeeeekkkkkk!!!!! Heh.

Funny what you're afraid of when you're a kid, tho.

Nowadays I'm just afraid of republicans. :lmao:

lol, yeah republicans are the ultimate scary!
Okay you guys are going to totally love this. As a child I was pretty much fearless. I would go any scary place and do any scary thing and I did not fear "monsters".

Then about five years ago I saw the remake of Dawn of the Dead and my life would change forever. As I have gotten older for what ever reason I have become more and more prone to irrational fear. This goes much deeper than zombies but for now l will touch on them specifically.

I watched Dawn of the Dead and as I am sure most of you know that movie breaks fundamental zombie lore rules. Zombies don't run. They have no higher brain function and they most assuredly cannot open doors, that kind of thing. You get the picture. At the end of that movie I was now so frightened of zombies that I would be plagued with nightmares about them for months. At that time I was smoker and always smoked outside. I had become so paranoid of a zombie attack that I no longer would go outside my home by myself. Anytime I would go to smoke I would have my ex come outside and smoke with me. (Here is where it gets great) I would specifically make sure to place my ex closer to the road while smoking so that if a zombie should happen by I would have time to get into the house, subsequently sacrificing my then husband.

Now this did get better over time. The nightmares lessened to some extent. I then saw the movie Shaun of the Dead and it was like everything was better. They made zombies so funny I could not help but look at them in this light. For the most part my zombie fear was crushed but then I had heard about the prediction and the whole 2012 thing and it was back in full swing because I am sure the reason that the world is going to end is due to a massive zombie attack on the earth.

All of that being said you should also know that I have an irrational fear about falling victim to natural disasters, murder, burglary, car accidents, and pretty much any accident of any kind you can imagine. I should also mention that I have a zombie escape plan for every place I frequent from my work to my home to my parents house to a bar I regularly attend. I live by the zombie survival guide and call me crazy but in a zombie attack I am sure I would be the one person you would want to have with you.

So hope you don't all think I am crazy but here is some insight into me as a person.

lol, that is awesome and in case of an attack i would like to please join your posse :)
:lmao: some of these fears are funny! some of you will probably find mine funny, though =)

when i was little i always had to keep my closet shut because i thought something was lurking in there. i'd always get Mom to check it before i went to bed to make sure nothing was hiding =) and i was so deathly afraid of something being under the bed and going to grab me if i got up in the middle of the night, i'd stand up on my bed and take a running jump directly out of my bedroom door so that nothing could grab me ....

i have since grown out of that fear though!

i've also had several nightmares about the KKK while i was a teenager, and they still frighten me. i can't figure that one out though!

I still get shivers about a character my grandmother used to tell us about, one of those "he/she/it comes and gets bad little boys and girls" type monsters. Soap Sally was this evil old woman who would sneak into the house late at night and throw a "tow (burlap) sack" over their heads (for some reason, once she got you into that sack, you couldn't make enough noise to call for help) and drac them off into the woods, where she would put them into her pot and make soap out of them. That really scared all of us kids until we grew out of the age when we believed in such things.

The really frightening thing, the "goose bump" thing, about it came years later. While researching a paper on the Reconstruction years in the South, I ran across an old article about a local serial killer of that time. It was a half insane former slave woman who made her living selling home made soap around the area. It was finally discovered that she was killing passing strangers and making soap from their bodies. There was no way of telling just how many men, women, and children she had killed and disposed of in that manner, but it was described as "at least in the dozens."Her name was Sally, and she was known to everyone locally as locally as "Soap Sally." That was when the goose bumps started, when, at 20 years of age, I discovered that my childhood "boogy man" was a real person.
