Any of you were disappointed that a certain character survived the final battle? I personally would have prefered for Wood to die for real. His character didn't even have any kind of importance in S8. Also, the first time around(without having read any spoilers) I was certain that one of the core four would die at the end... But none did! I was glad, but do you think that if Willow or Xander had died it would have been too much? Screwed the happy ending?

Oh and am I the only one who'd have liked BUFFY to say the last line in the show?? Not freaking Dawn, ughh. 😉

I agree about Buffy saying the last line.
I wanted Dawn to die...it was one of the rare moments that i was cheering for the bad guys, but it never happened 🙁

I thought Dawn was a really irritating character, but if she had died, Buffy would be pretty sad and the ending wouldn't have been as happy..
It may have been more effective if Willow or Xander died, but I can't even imagine Buffy without the core four.

Wood should have died. He was annoying and the little trick he played on Faith was kinda stupid and not funny.

Absolutely agree that Buffy should have said the last line of the series.

But Anya died! I liked how she went out...crazy as that seems, but I can explain myself.
 
I never got the point of Wood living. I guess it was just to give him an arc throughout the episode with the "surprise" thing. Outside of Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn and Giles - the mains - the only people are really Faith and Andrew and Kennedy and Wood; I feel that if any of them were to die it would be pointless, unaffecting. The mains would be too sad to see die. Though the saddest part of it all, since Spike came back, is that Anya was the only lead that was killed during that huge battle. Should've been Andrew.
 
I don't think anya should have died, I was pretty mad/sad that she died.. I think kennedy should have, I don't really like her
 
I think many more should have died. BUT it's not something I wanted. I didn't want anyonre to die (well, besides Kennedy, maybe Rhonna). My point is, people had to die, makes it more believable. I prefer Buffy not to die like in The Gift, even though it was an amazing episode and probably better than Chosen.
 
i have to agree anya should not have died she was a star,,,,,,

can anyone let me know why season 7 episode "touched" was edited. there is a scene where willow and kennedy are in bed and i have ben told that there is a sex scene which was the first ever shown on tv. i have the dvd box sets and i can find it im confused, any help where a can get an uncut version of season 7. i know im a geek i just want to have full versions of the dvds in my collections. cheer all
 
Buffy did get the last word; that glorious smile. No better way to finish it. 🙂

I can't say that I wish anyone had died. I sure someone had stayed dead 😛 😛 😛

Wow. Wonder if I am the only one that actually LIKED the Wood character. Maybe because there were few males (humans I mean) that were worth a damn, he and Riley really the only two. And he didn't play a trick on her? Oh my word. He was dying and fading in and out. It's not like he said let me pretend I am dead for a laugh. Sigh.

I completely adore Wood. He's probably my favorite character in S7, possibly even before the main Scoobies, who I found less likable than in previous seasons.

I don't mind Wood at all. I really liked for the first half of S7. I was even kinda rooting for him and Faith.
 
I was sad that Anya was killed, but I think that somebody had to die.. If nobody had died, it would have been a bit unrealistic.. And Anya at least died as a brave woman.. I didn't like THAT she died, but since they did do that, I did like HOW she died.
 
If all the people the fans didn't care too much for died, and all the loved ones survived, the episode wouldn't have had much impact. That said, I cared for Woods and was glad to see him pull through and surprise Faith.
 
I am really happy that none of the core Scooby gang died but I am still sad that Anya died. Even though she wasn't my favorite character, I was shocked and torn up by her death.
I think we got off a little too easy, really. For it being the series finale, I was actually surprised that none of the core Scooby gang died. I was actually dreading the finale in a big way 'cause I was terrified that Xander or Giles was going to get killed.
 
Joss said on the commentary for Chosen that he originally wanted to kill off Xander and possibly Giles in the series finally, but decided that killing off any of the core four would make the series finally tragic, and he didn't want to leave the show on that note. Yet he wanted to make a point about the costs of the battle, so he killed off Anya and did so in the very quick and brutal way in which she dies.

Yeah, that last smile spoke volumes all by itself, and the best part is, we each get to fill in our own "volumes" that are spoken. Was she...

1) Smiling with pride that Spike had proven her right and all of the others wrong by being the real hero of the battle?

2) Smiling at the prospect (she thought) of being able to step down and let the new Slayers take over?

3) Smiling in anticipation to seeing Angel again in LA?

4) Smiling because she was getting out of that ridiculous house, with two floors, a full basement, three bedrooms, and only one bathroom PLUS almost certainly going to collect a bundle in insurance?

5) Smiling because she knew that this was the Buffyverse, people don't always stay dead, and Spike's chances of returning were at least three to one.

6) Smiling because she wouldn't have to put up with Anya anymore?

I liked the fact that the Buffy ending wasn't a total bloodbath. It made a nice change for Joss.
 
OK, did anybody else feel physically ill, watching for the first time as they were about to go into that final battle? When I first saw it, as soon as they were in the building I became nauseous, and my palms were sweating like crazy. I almost didn't want to watch. Just...knowing Joss, etc...I was totally terrified. I wasn't sure I could handle what he was about to show us, (I mean, just re: character deaths; the rest of what was going on was incredible)...and then of course he proved me right! 🙁
Obviously it could have been worse, but, still.
 
One thing that I do remember about watching "Chosen" for the first time was that it had already been announced that Spike would be joining "Angel" the next season, which kind of diminished the effect of his supposed death in the hellmouth.


Also, to the best of my knowledge, Season 7 was the first time that there was an actual series of "night before" scenes, showing just how the various gang members, or at least, everyone but Faith, prepared for, or tried to forget, what was quite likely to happen the next morning.
