Chosen...I can't belive they killed Anya

She was one of my favorite chararacters!! 🙁
Do you think they did the right thing killing her in 'Chosen'?

I was sad to see Anya go, especially due to the fact that her death was very low key.
 
and the faxt that xanda only said thats my girl... it was real low-key but i liked the bit where andrew saud bunnys and she got mad 🙂
 
I think I would have been more ok with it had they actually recognized it more. I mean, she was there for 4 years. Longer than Cordy or Angel. I think that they should have given her a much better good-bye than that.

I think some people even though she's been there so long still see her as the "Cordy replacement". I never thought of her as such and thought she was a great addition to the Scoobies.
 
Yeah Anya Was Really The One For The Funny Comments She Really Did Make You Laugh Especially In Chosen Where She Says "Yes We Will Defend It With His Life" And When She Got Mad With Andrews Comment On Bunnies.
 
they probably should've said something more about it.... but her death was meaningful. I mean, she's spent her whole 'mortal' life trying to understand death... and then bam! she get's it... hard and quick... death at its finest. sudden.


but I liked her a bit (she was growin on me) and it would've been happy if she would've lived.
 
I saw it coming after her and Andrew's conversation in End Of Days....I think Joss shocked me by making it so quick. There was no final goodbye with Xander, no parting quip about how being human wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Sucked that it was her....I pretty much hate all character death...
 
That was so upsetting. And I agree it was so quick. I must admit I was shocked..........not Anya!
 
I was incredibly shocked at the way Anya died. It was so sudden and gruesome. She was almost cut in half. My heart was pounding for the next ten minutes after that. That was a good death scene. Not heartfelt but quick and shocking. I'm glad that it was quick becasue if it had been any longer, there wouldn't have been that feeling of suddenness and would have been played perhaps too dramaticaly. Although it was very sad to see Anya go. She was such a great character. I loved her blatant misuse of language. The first scene in Storyteller was priceless for me, when she comes in the bathroom and asks Andrew, "Why can't you just masturbate like the rest of us?" There were so many good times with Anya. She will be missed.
 
i think joss wanted to show us that the big bad was not ur regular one and that ppl are gonna die and to show u that buffy the show is really over. IMO
 
I was REALLY upset when this happened, really, I mean, neva used so much tissues!
But I think it was right of him to kill her, as sad as I was, because, I love Anya. But I think if he would've killed like Willow, or Xander or even Giles, fans would be like REALLY mad. Anya was the bestest character (from my eyes) but I understand why he chose Anya!

I thought the death was really sad. If you read the buffy book chosen they show xanders thought when he was finishing talking to andrew an it was i do anya i do. I that was the sadest thing.
 
It WAS a shock the way she died. Although it would have been nice for everyone to have their great big meaningful goodbyes I kind of like the way they did it. It was unexpected and savage. Just like a true battle would be.
 
Amanda got a more emotional death scene than Anya... Go figure.

There was no acknowledgement of Anya's importance to the series. It left me cold. It was like a slap in Emma's face. Were they angry at her for comments she made over the years.

I expected at least the power of Jonathan's death scene in CWDP.

Ive got this book too! I cried when I read the part where she gets stabbed thinking 'I'll be his mrs!'' I dont normally cry when I read a book!
 
When it comes down to it, we all knew somebody had to die. Now, I'm not saying 'better Anya than anybody else', but I saw a main character's death coming a mile away. For it to be Anya, who has just as special a place in my heart as any other character, just makes it hard to think about with tearing up.

nerd4hire's words pretty much sum up my feelings of the death scene. I guess I might like drama more than comedy, but they should've put aside some of the not-so-much-needed jokes so they could've made her scene longer... just to give us closure 'cause Chosen lacked that in the worst way for me. I hate the 'what ifs' because it's so much easier to have it settled in my mind.

buffygirlfranny and The Male Slayer: Thanks for telling us about the Chosen book. I didn't even think of it being more detailed like that. I'm definitely going to go read the book when I get the chance.🙂
 
It was the death that probably made the most sense in the long run. If there were to be a death in the core group, it would very possibly have seemed a bit contrived, like it was done for shock value alone (not that other things hadn't been done in S7 purely for shock value... at least IMO).
