There were several alternative scripts doing the rounds on the internet. Some have Anya surviving; some have Xander dying to save Dawn; others feature cameos from a whole host of memorable characters, including The Master, Glory, Joyce & The Mayor.

in conversations with....when joyce said to dawn about the end and that buffy wouldnt chose her,well it was in an alternative script that it was reaveled what not choosing her meant!

Oh yeah, very interesting... I wonder why they changed it. That part with Joyce never being answered bothered me.

I read one alternaty final, had some good things, but mostly i prefer the actual episode
